First of all, shout out to their social media team. They did a wonderful job of branding and baiting.
But I have to say- I was very disappointed.
My girlfriend shared an instagram post of this place with me and asked that I bring her. The post was awesome and I immediately agreed. Unfortunately, I wasnât able to make it initially. But that just made us even more excited to try it out today with my girlfriend and her daughter. They love pasta!
They are very nice. Letâs get that out of the way. Great smiles and pleasant. Thatâs about all.
I asked to order apps almost immediately. They told me I had to order it with my entree. I didnât like that but whatever. Once we all decided on what to order, we asked for fried calamari and baked clams to start. The pics of the baked clams looked great on IG. For entrees, we ordered the skirt steak and fries for my girlâs daughter, chicken parm for my girl, and rigatoni marinara with shrimp for me. My waiter was questioning me as if adding shrimp wasnât an option despite it being listed on the menu. Not sure what that was about. I specifically asked for the steak to be sliced like the pics on IG- he said it always comes like that. I asked for the marinara not to be heavy on chili flakes cause I can only tolerate mild- he told me heâll bring the chili flakes on the side. And for drinks- ginger ale for my girlâs daughter, Pinot noir for me, sangria for my girl. I asked if theyâd be bringing us bread. They said sour dough is coming right up.
Ok. The sour dough was trash. It was basically regular cheap bread they took out of a bag.
They didnât have calamari.
I was catfished with the baked clams. They werenât terrible, but they did not impress at all. They lacked texture and were grainy. Youâd expect more out of a place like this. They looked nothing like the pics and tasted ehhh.
The steak came out whole (not sliced). I informed the waiter. He took it back immediately to have it sliced. He returned almost immediately offering an apology and said the kitchen doesnât cut the steak. I asked him for a few seconds while I pulled up the picture on their IG page of the steak sliced. He smiles, takes it back to the kitchen, and returns with it sliced. Thatâs trash. Should have brought it out sliced. Didnât. When I brought it to his attention, to come back with it still unsliced is just horrible customer service. Just slice the steak. BUT, it was tasty at least. As for her ginger ale, they totally forgot.
My girlâs chicken parm was ehh.
My rigatoni marinara with shrimp was ehh. The shrimp was ok. The rigatoni was hard. The marinara was ehh. And the chili flakes never came.
Lastly, the waiter had an open sore on the outside of his lip. Thankfully, he wasnât handling my food. I would have absolutely felt some type of way about that. I donât know about you but I donât want to see someone with an open sore speaking over my food. Thatâs a bit gross and completely avoidable. The waiting staff, although very kind and pleasant, they were disconnected- like they didnât have harmony. I had 3 waiters.
I didnât stay for dessert . I was very disappointed. Probably more so because I was so excited to visit. And this place was NOTHING like how they brand themselves.
4.6 rating??? I canât see how. Try Oregano in Williamsburg. Great spot. Another really great spot is Papazzio in Bayside. A MILLION times better.
Sorry guys- take the bad with the good. I...
Read moreHad a very mixed experience here. Personally, we experienced non-stop issued but in the end our meal was comped which I thought was fair. So itâs hard for me to give an opinion. I plan to come back and update later on but below was my experience.
Had family friends visiting so I booked this restaurant for Friday at 7pm. It was raining heavy so we were hoping for an indoor table. We arrive and the host says there are not tables indoor available and we would have to wait for the people at our table to leave which would be an additional 10 minutes or more. Our other option was to sit outside. We asked if we would be completely covered and not get wet and they said yes it would be completely dry. We sit outside and within minutes we are practically soaked. So I ask if we can be moved inside to the table they reserved us. They told me that they already gave the table to someone else and it would take hours for a new one. So we already started off on a bad foot. Luckily, the rain started to lighten and wasnât that bad. But it was terrible at first since rain was blowing all over and dripping on our backs since there is a gap between the cover and the wall.
We order and a while later they come out and tell us they donât have pizza anymore due to the storm so those who ordered pizza need to reorder. So we reorder different things. The new things we ordered came out 10 min before the rest of the dishes so it was not optimal. When out dishes finally came out, mine was missing the chicken that I ordered so I had to wait even longer for that.
In the end, the food was good and meal was comped. I do plan to come back and hopefully have a...
Read moreThe experiences I had in this restaurant got worse each time. The first time I ordered from them was sometime last year, over-the-phone takeout. The woman taking my order wasnât paying attention to the simple order I placed for myself - one person - and I had to repeat it. The second time, I ordered takeout in person with the hostess and things were OK. The third time, I went in person to order takeout and the same hostess was ditzy and assumed I wanted to order the same thing as last time when she shouldâve asked. You canât assume a customerâs going to order the same thing every time. The fourth time was Friday, 10/18/2024, when I went to the restaurant to show them a picture of what I wanted - fried chicken breast over penne pasta with pasta sauce - and I got the nonsense in the picture below, instead. They charged me over $30 for this small plate where it looks like whoever made it doesnât know how to cook. It had too much garlic, not enough pasta or sauce and the small portion of chicken was chewy. I was disgusted. I threw it away and was hungry for the rest of my shift. The perception was this restaurant cares more about customers dining in than those ordering out. Iâm appalled at how much service and quality has gone downhill in NYC and needless to say, I wonât be returning...
