L&M Delicatessen and Catering — Restaurant in New York

I highly recommend using L&M Delicatessen & Catering for all of your lunch and breakfast catering needs!!! We used L&M Catering to cater lunches for the bridesmaids and groomsmen suites in September in a Manhattan hotel on the day of our wedding while we were getting ready, in addition to a post wedding bagel brunch in the suite the next day. Wow, did they deliver!

I'll start by saying Larry was great to communicate and plan with. He was helpful in offering his opinion on how much to order, and what kind of varieties we might need. On the day of the wedding, they showed up right on time to deliver a beautiful and delicious tray of wraps and a large salad, with generous portions of sides (coleslaw, dressings, spreads) and all of the utensils we could possibly need. L&M Catering definitely saved the bride, groom, and our wedding party from a possible hangry situation!

We also asked them to come back the following day to deliver a spread of bagels, cream cheeses, fruit, and coffee for a goodbye brunch in our suite the next day. Once again the portions were incredibly generous, and the bagels were super fresh and satisfying to our out-of-town guests that wanted to try an "authentic" NY bagel.

Weddings can be stressful, but Larry and L&M Delicatessen & Catering took a huge weight off of our shoulders by ensuring our parties and day after guests were fed, and that all of the food was delivered fresh, hot, and seamlessly, and right on time. I should also say their prices were much better than many other catering options we looked at in the area. You'll definitely get bang for your buck with them. Recently hosted an event for 25 and L&M exceeded high expectations. As one of many tough critics who has grown up with North End Italian and Little Italy here in Manhattan- L&M is one of the better traditional Italian options going and perhaps the best value. Email communication is not a strong suit but they made it all happen. Very glad to have them nearby. Thank you.

Individual ratings per dish below: Baked Ziti: 7 (out of 10) pretty straightforward dish- combination of tomato and vodka sauces. Eggplant Rollatini: 7.5- nicely prepared but could have used a better eggplant to ricotta (too much ricotta) ratio and eggplant to tomato. Roast beef with gravy: 8. Swimming in flavorful sauce but thin strips of roast beef were a nice surprise. Chicken parmigiana: 9.5. Didn’t personally have but everyone raved about it and it was gone before I could have some. The food is decent but the service and follow through is atrocious. I have been ordering delivery from here once or twice a week for the last couple of months and every single time there is something missing or wrong with the order. There’s no consistency. If I put a note it’s missed, sometimes a part of it gets done and another part of it doesn’t. Items get left out. Utensils arrive or don’t arrive. You order cheddar? You get American cheese 1 out of 2 times. It’s unacceptable. I’ll go back to ordering where I ordered from before them. Very disappointed.

I did try to call and speak with the manager but the person I spoke to didn’t want to pass the phone on. Hopefully this feedback helps them pull it together. I can’t imagine I’m the only one whose orders show up wrong or missing items. I may be the only one who gave it several extra...
