Had high hopes for this place when I saw there was somewhere that hosted local bands in the area. Unfortunately, the person that runs the place has an extremely bad attitude. Will not return. *reply to owner's response: I like how he's trying to make it seem like I left a poor review because he didn't book us twice. This wasn't the problem. We had packed the patio for the single show we did play at Mama Tried, when the owner tried to claim nobody had shown up as his reasoning for not wanting us to return. I was very confused as to why he would claim this, when he was there and knew this was just not true. It was a Thursday night, and was really not a bad crowd considering. On top of that he felt the need to insult bands I was suggesting for future bills. I was above and beyond in trying to be helpful, friendly, I had even offered my various social media outlets (some of which are quite popular) to help out this place, which fell on deaf ears. I tried, but...
Read moreThe mint green building caught my eye as we were driving down 3rd Ave. We stopped in to check it out and loved the retro vibe and muted colors. There's a long bar with plenty of seats and comfy banquets along the opposite wall. The old jukebox has lots of classic songs (#1 being Mama Tried).
The drinks were unique and the beer selection was varied (which I really appreciated). I has the Passionate Tart and that's exactly what it was... pleasantly tart with a bit of sweetness and a passion fruit undertone. My husband had the Tulum which was smoky, a bit spicy, and incredible. He finished with the Leroy Brown. It was very different from the first 2 and reminded me of a slightly sweeter more complex old fashioned with a molasses finish. All 3 drinks were complex, interesting, delicious, and crafted so beautifully.
Matthew, the owner was super friendly and made us feel welcome. He spoke with us about the drinks and enjoyed a laugh. I will definitely...
Read moreI’ve been here on multiple occasions with my partner. I don’t know why, but the energy gives that they are racist? My partners ID was nearly not accepted for no reason? Mind you she is 27. This is not the only weird racist-esque situation we’ve had there, it’s actually crazy the bartenders will inherently ignore us and refuse to serve us and serve other white people instead. I dont know if it’s a homophobic or racist issue. In addition, the atmosphere is full of a ton of upper middle aged white people who give weird stares to us, and the entire establishment gives the vibe that they’re “woke” white liberals but inherently racist and it shows. Another time we came with friends who were all brown, and everyone in the establishment seemed angry/uncomfortable. It’s truly just weird to me. The potato salad is good tho. People of color I would avoid this place...
