The worst idea is to reopen a place when there is no product to sell. As of now, they only have one mezcal, their house mezcal. At least make it known on your websit, to be clear, instead of advertising 60 different mezcals. All for supporting reopenings, but still be honest with the limitations on place. Totally glad to change the review, if and when the place actually "reopens." To be clear, the one star is for the owners. Do something about it. The workers here, bartender and staff, are doing the best they can with what they have. Great service and operating with what I assume is little support from the management/owners.

This place was amazing, from the atmosphere to the drinks I couldn’t recommend it enough!!! We passed this place and I love mezcal so I had to go in and by far one of the best cocktails I’ve had in New York. We were also informed about their zero proof tequila which was so cool because my sister in law is pregnant and something like that as a mocktail is really impressive! The people here are kind, the drinks are delicious and if you haven’t been you’re missing out, highly recommend!!

Found the place randomly in Google Maps, and I had a great experience. The drinks are super tasty and I specially liked the mezcal cocktails . Food menu is very limited now I guess because of the pandemic, but will get you by for the drinks. Service was super nice and efficient. We got a little booth, which was great because we could socially distance. Great ambience and beautiful decoration. It was a nice place to discover and can see myself coming back.

Expect horrible service and 0 hospitality!

I have never been prompted to write a review of any business until now. This place has a horribly rude manager, who not only kicked us out after waiting for an hour to get our table, but threatened to call the police on us. Backstory: after an HOUR of waiting at the bar and repetitive check-ins with the manager, he finally told us that he could not seat us yet because the people at our table had ordered another round. We suggested to switch spots so they take the bar and we finally get seated, but that was "not possible". Issue escalated to manager saying our request to be seated was unrealistic because "the table had just spent 1k$" and it was "as if we are going to McDonald's expecting to order a steak" at their place. After kicking us out, he demanded that we pay for our bar drinks which, again, we had to order as we waited - some of which were not even touched - or else he would call the police on us.

Bummer to see a place so hyped about in the city be managed by such a rude, unwelcoming, unknowledgeable manager.

Note: 1) this bad encounter was only with the rude manager, the rest of the staff, especially the bartender, were very respectful 2) since this issue has happened, I have been in touch with the owner who has taken responsibility about the issue, unlike his...

There are a bunch of things that make this place great.

First things first though obviously. There is a 10 yes that's right 10 page drink menu. Everything from mezcal to micheladas even absinthe and rose, you'll be able to imbibe in this establishment. Drinks average about $12-14 and the more concentrated concoctions are served in smaller, daintier glasses.

The food menu albeit smaller is equally as impressive. The first time I came here was on my birthday, so we were able to try several different dishes.

Pork Belly Cochinita People, listen to the yelpers. This dish is LEGIT Queso Fundito with Chorizo Omg, self explanatory but I could bury my face in it Guac/Salsas Standard tells of a good Mexican restaurant and Mayahuel delivers Ceviche Light and fresh tasting Fish Tacos Fresh and delicious, always always order these Flautas Can do no wrong ever. Obviously awesome here Chimichurri Steak Great cuts of beef with a variety of veggies on that plate

Did not have the Paella but boy the description is drool inducing.

THEY HAVE CHURROS too!!! Obviously those went straight to the dome.

I will make this a standard repeat. Can't forget the ambiance. Dark with candles and dark wood. Great place to take someone for cocktails. And dinner.

YUM. Wish they delivered. To Chelsea. And...

This place is a really nice and quaint tequila bar tucked away on an unassuming corner in the East Village. You have to squint to find this place, but once you step inside you are rewarded with a really chill and cozy bar with a great vibe. They have downstairs bar and booth seating as well as an upstairs with some additional more intimate seating.

They have a huge selection of Mezcal and Tequilas as well as impressively constructed cocktails. They also have a food menu which seems to have some good options, though I haven't tried the food.

The staff is friendly and the bar tender is knowledgeable. He can make you a custom drink based on your taste preferences, your mood, or both.

The main problem with this place is that the cocktails and spirits are pretty expensive. You are basically paying for a nice setting and for the selection of different Agave spirits they offer.

If you have a pretty penny to spend, Mayahuel is a good place to go sip and discover Tequila and Mezcal or try some fancy cocktails over some chips...
