This is probably going to be the best bbq you'll get in the area (and probably one of the best food court restaurants) but will come at a high cost.
Mighty Quinn's is nestled within the upstairs food court at Brookfield Place, and the only place that had a long line (which is a good sign).
I had the 2 meat platter - Brisket and Ribs, mac n' cheese and a sweet tea with a free mayo cole slaw. It came out over $30, this is outrageously overpriced for anywhere outside of NYC, but normal for this area.
Brisket: I've eaten BBQ in TX and throughout the country, and this was a decent brisket. It fell apart real easily, and there was a good amount of fat that came with the brisket, to the point where my small tray was filled with oil... It was definitely smoked well, and not too strong of a wood flavor. You don't get a whole lot of brisket but its good...
Ribs: Ribs were kind of small/dry (like half the size of regular ribs), but they were okay. The BBQ sauce cups were tangy, and gave the meat a Carolina flavor (like Carolina pulled pork).
Mac n Cheese: The mac n cheese was thick and used some kind of light cheddar, and the pasta was undercooked. It was a decent size for a small order.
Mayo Cole Slaw: It had little or no mayo, I wasn't used to it, because it was light and had only the flavor of the slaw (didn't taste any spices or condiment like mayo), but it came with the meal at no cost.
Sweet Tea: It was a bottle. I am used to fountain homemade sweet tea, but it was okay... I could take it or leave it.
This meal left me hungry, but I am pretty sure i'll be back here for the variety of different BBQ meats...
Read moreIt was about 730pm, I went to Mighty Quinns and nobody was on the line. I was with my 3 year old daughter and she wanted some fries. The employees were chatting and I stood there waiting for about 5 minutes until a woman they knew came and they instantly greeted her "Hey how are you, what would you like?" Blatantly ignoring me and my daughter standing there. The woman was kind enough to let me order first. As I was paying, the cashier ignored me standing in front of her again and as the woman behind me let me go first, the cashier gave me the rudest, most disgusting face. I don't like starting a scene when I'm with my daughter so I kindly said thank you for taking me. I understand that its late in the day, but that type of rude service was uncalled for, especially in front of my daughter. I love Mighty Quinn BBQ and food but this type of employee behavior was disgusting to say the least. Will not be...
Read moreI had Mighty Quinn's Pulled Pork Sandwich Combo delivered to work a few nights ago and it was pretty great. I included Roasted Sweet Potatoes, which were excellent as always and Burnt End Baked Beans, which had huge chunks of burnt ends in them. I'm not a huge slaw fan, but their vinegar slaw was perfect for cutting through the richness of the pork. At first, I thought I had been shortchanged on the sandwich as the meat looked like a lot of dark, fatty skin but it was soft, shredded pork, wrapped up in crispy, blackened bark which packed a real flavor punch. The container it came in had a good amount of pork juices, which I doused my sandwich with, along with their amazing BBQ sauce. The Chocolate Fudge Brownie from Greyston Bakery was a nice end to the meal. The only issue was that I struggled to focus on work due to the sleepy-eyed, grinning "meat coma" stupor that this meal induced in me. Well done,...
