Normally I am all about the little tea shops with hundreds of teas and a funky/quirky attitude. Not so with this place. The combo of the overpriced teas with the unevenness of the service makes this a place to avoid most of the time instead of a destination.

I've been to this place five times now. The first time I was a bit put off by the arrangement of the place. There are few seats, the only good seats are by the window, and that fits five at most. The only usable outlet is in this area as well and if you try to use it be prepared to be scolded if the wrong employee sees you.

With the vast choice of teas you should know your stuff before you go pick. I like that they give you a timer so the tea steeps just enough and all of the employees are knowledgeable. As others have mentioned, the prices are high for what you get. Both when buying tea to take home and getting it in the pot.

If you can get past these things there are some nice aspects. Since the shop is small, it's pretty quiet. The pastries are really good (overpriced, tho). Many of the teas are excellent.

Watch out for that owner/manager/whoever she is. Never been on the receiving end of her ire but I've seen her turn it on others.

As a writer, i'm often tempted to drop in this place. Whenever I go, I remember again why...

Can't give one star because of the good music playing and a very nice girl working there who made us our drinks. The tea tasted very good though was a bit overpriced ($6.95 for a small chai tea latte). By the way, I couldn't see any prices for individual drinks anywhere, so you don't know how much you are going to pay in advance. On the other hand, you can see clearly how much time you're allowed to spend there (no more than an hour of laptop time). Currently, it works only for take out.

Passive aggressive behavior of the manager towards not only us but other clients as well was enough to ruin the first good impression. When I asked if they had regular milk, I was given back an attitude and a list of 3 vegan options they had in a way that suggested that I don't know what I want and I'm just wasting her time. Well, not every single tea drinker is a vegan. The client that already got his drink before us was asked to leave so others could come in to the store in the same unfriendly manner.

Lots of people definitely come here because of the building and the name the place bears. Once. People come back if they like the product and service. The experience I had there makes me not wanting to go back. Maybe, I'm just not the right kind of client...

I used to come here all the time with my friends or just alone ! Used to be an excellent place to read or relax or write. The owner is amazing she’s a gem, and the establishment is so organized and incredibly versatile and unique. BEST tea around and so many options. The owner was so knowledgeable and passionate about tea etc and very kind and pleasant to be around. Unfortunately, I returned here a while back and there was a new gentleman working there and he was incredibly rude from the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcomed in a place that used to be our sanctuary so we uncomfortably ended up leaving and haven’t returned since. Not sure if he is still employed there but like I said it’s a great place in itself and in my opinion has the best selection and quality of tea in nyc , but personally my friends and I just didn’t appreciate or deserve to be treated in such a negative light which is why I gave this five star...

This is such a lovely gem of a tea shop! I visited for the first time on a recent weekend and the small space was bustling with customers buying loose tea and ordering cups to go. The owner, Ilana, was so friendly and kind, talking me through my loose tea selections and explaining the correct instructions for water temperature, steeping time, and the amount of times I can reuse the leaves. The decor is so inviting, with tea cups and mugs everywhere as well as small vases with flowers. There are so many loose tea options that I was tempted to buy several, but stuck to orange blossom and vanilla chai. The store also has a few pastries and tea accessories available to purchase. I left the store happy with my experience and excited to try out the teas that I purchases. Definitely stop by Physical Graffitea if you're a tea fan!

While in New York City, we took a trek to this hallowed rock & roll ground. I love the name of this nice tea shop, as it plays homage to the mighty Led Zeppelin’s album, Physical Graffiti- Physical GraffiTea. We spoke with the owner and she is friendly & a wealth of knowledge when it comes to tea… She is a true Tea-ologist. They have every tea one can imagine and then some. We ended up buying several kinds including a Blueberry Rooibus tea, Devil’s Pu-erh, Pumpkin Chai, and Cucumber Melon Green. While there, I had them make me a cup of a tea called Queen Elizabeth- which I was informed is a favorite of the great Robert Plant. I enjoyed my tea and my time spent here with these nice people.

Stumbled upon this gem one night when I needed it the most! As you can see from the photos they have dozens of types of tea (including herbal teas) and the cutest teapots ever. I buy my tea in bulk from them now (reasonable prices, great quality), but I still make time to go grab a halva cookie and a pot every now and then. If I have one complaint (and it is outside of their control) It's that it is super cozy--read: it's tight quarters. There's room for a handful of couples, maybe one small group. Think intimate if you are thinking of going by. That being said, I highly recommend it!
