It’s places like this that rob artists, but reap the benefits. UPDATE:🫵🏼 (Look at the last two photos - the places LIES. Talking about how they’re NOT involved in financial transactions. I BOUGHT my ticket and paid PINKFROG on Venmo and THEN bought food in addition to “support the cafe”)
MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: When you buy tickets, you think that $12 or however, much is going to the artist and then the $8 is going to the café for the required food- it’s NOT.
I came here to support a band only to find out that none of the money that you pay for the ticket goes to the band. This café is a scam when it comes to supporting artists. The $12 that you think you pay for the ticket and then $8 cover charge for the food - all goes to the café. None of it goes to artists playing there. You’re better off going to a friends house and having a show there and asking people to donate than going to this place.
When I didn’t want to buy any food, they said you can donate that amount to help support hosting free shows. Which technically is correct… but it’s not free if you’re paying - thinking it’s going to the artist but it’s not.
Also, the food is Meh. I had some dumplings, fries and latte. You can find other places with better food
Also, it’s just sketchy the way they handle concerts.
From personal experience, the manager, or whoever is the runner of these concerts couldn’t...
Read moreCame for an event, and while this place was cute and the staff was friendly, they’re shorting it on the menu across the board.
The house wine pour was only 4 oz. Edamame came out with no salt. I asked for a dry sake recommendation and the woman behind the bar (I think the owner) insisted I get the most expensive bottle, which was a semi-sweet. My friend’s sake bombs were two inches short of the rim on the glass.
If you have to meet a minimum, stick to something they can’t cut corners or upsell you on, like the Archer Roose canned wines. They’re higher priced than they should be but at least you’ll get the whole thing.
Also—multiple times through the night there was a smell of sewage that seemed to be wafting from the back. We were easily thirty feet away from the bathrooms, and the smell was almost unbearable. I don’t know what’s going on with their plumbing but it...
Read moreCame here to see a show, it required a ticket of $22, along with buying food/drink. The venue insists it’s needed to pay the artists, but when speaking to a few of the artists after the show, they told me they’re not getting paid for their gigs, or the money they’re giving them is nowhere close to what they’re charging, which is extremely shady (the manager is known for being a shady person, as previous reviews state). As soon as you buy a ticket, the person working the bar hounds you to buy food and a drink. The food taste like it came from a generic brand from Costco, and the cafe drinks taste like you’re sipping burnt coffee grinds. I’ve been to many live music bars and venues across NYC, this one has to be one of the shadiest and pushiest one I’ve been to. There’s so many good places to go see good local artists and performers across NYC. I won’t be returning...
