NYC Underground Clubbing Guide: If These Places Suck, You Can Come Find Me

From a guest perspective, I think this place is a really cool vibe. I’ve heard weekends are crazy, but I’ve really only gone on a Wednesday or Sunday. I really liked the few Sundays I’ve been to, they do a natural wine party & it’s interesting because coming into the space, you wouldn’t expect them to sell natural wine. And the back room is sooooo cool, in the best way.

Cool place with an interesting aesthetic. Has a nice seating area in the middle. Drinks are on the expensive side but there is a nice 5 dollar beer + well shot happy hour combo which is a good starter.

The main issue with our experience was service. I went on a sunday night with some friends and I got the first round of drinks with the assumption the bartender would open a tab. Instead she had me pay upfront which was fine but since we definitely weren’t going to only have one drink I only paid for the beers and didn’t leave a tip YET. After she rung me up she gave me a nasty look and said ā€œI know you guys are young but you HAVE to tip at a barā€. I tried to explain to her that we wanted to open up a tab and that we were going to tip in cash but she just walked away. We ended up getting another round (as planned) and tipped accordingly before leaving because that was a pretty awful introduction that ruined the vibe and the place was practically empty. Overall I wouldn’t recommend paying club prices for bar drinks when the venue is pretty small and mediocre. Birdy’s is right next door and offers a much more fun experience. I always leave a tip for any service i’m given so it was disheartening to have someone assume so little of a customer off of the first drink of...

Do not give this place a DOLLAR of your money.

My friends and I were told there was a $10 cover (cash only). We asked the bouncer if we needed to get a stamp for reentry, and he replied ā€œno, I’ll remember you.ā€ We went inside, opened a tab, and were immediately approached by a host and told to leave because we didn’t have stamps.

The bouncer claimed he had never seen us before in his life. The host then tried to convince us that the drinks we had just purchased weren’t from there. They wouldn’t even let my friend close her tab before throwing us out.

I hope those bouncers enjoyed pocketing the cash we paid for the cover, but I think the owners of this bar might want to reevaluate their business model. I’m no economist, but I’m pretty sure letting your patrons stay and spend money on drinks might be better for your bottom line… also if your bouncer has that severe of a short-term memory problem, he might be a little under-qualified...

Yeah, it's pretty stinky, incredibly loud, too much red??? Like what is the aesthetic? Small space and they've moved all the seating to entice people to dance to ??? Music. They've got a fog machine going at all times/maybe that's just everyone's musk mixed with popper fumes.

Nobody outside ever look like they are having a good time BCS they are looking right at birdys and are wondering why they didn't go there.

If you wanna dance go up two blocks to Bossa Nova club, or down two blocks to Market Hotel or over 200 ft to HappyHideaway. This bar reopening is like putting honeydew in a fruit bowl that has water melon, strawberries, blueberries and cantaloupe, we already have something better.

Most of the good reviews are from when this bar was open two years ago, it shut down from a fire and reopened this summer, pretty sure it's under...
