Sal's Pizzeria — Restaurant in New York

As a lifelong New Yorker who has lived in the neighborhood over 12 years, I keep trying with Sals, but it remains as the most bland, flavorless pizza and pasta I've ever had in the area. With so many better local options, I really hope they step up their recipe game because I want this old neighborhood establishments to remain and get better! I never write reviews, but I'm strangely passionate about good New York pizza/pasta shops, and the penne a la vodka I just ordered had the most runny, watery, flavorless sauce I've maybe ever tasted, so I just threw it in the garbage....which is a tragedy. The pizza crust was dry, flavorless, too chewy, and the sauce has no taste...it never does here. The staff is so nice and they work hard, so they deserve to serve better food. I hope they grow and add some spices or new recipes...at least for a decent crust and decent...

A regular cheese pie is $22 and $25 with pepperoni. I ordered 4 pepperoni slices, 3 cheese slices and 2 sicilians which came out to almost $43. When I asked why, the person behind the counter was extremely rude like I did something wrong. It seems it's more expensive when you order "slices" instead of pie. Just be transparent with your customers. Post the prices for slices if there is a mark up! It's easy to think we will pay less if you are selling pies at $22.

I appreciate the gesture but no thanks. I come from a customer service background. I was very polite and asked a question seeking clarification and you responded in a rude manner. Appreciate the people that bring you business, especially when there are many other pizza options nearby. You also never know who you are speaking with and what kind of business they can bring you in the...

My experience at South pizzeria wasn’t a good one. Being a black supporter of the establishment for years I was treated unfairly and overlooked by the woman taking the orders. I was The only person waiting to order the lady looked past me and began to take her order of a white lady. I then let her know that I was first in line then she proceeded to take my order. The white lady ordered 5 slices of pizza And I only ordered one. While sitting down waiting for my one slice of pizza I realize that they gave the white lady my slice of pizza along with four other Slices of pizza While I waited for a fresh slice of pizza. I felt very offended and disrespected and I will never eat at Sals pizza again. Being a black supporter I really was hurt and that should never happen to another bad...
