Salutations to all,
I usually leave reviews while I am present inside the restaurant or setting but unfortunately my phone was dead. Fear not, here I am. I came to the restaurant 02/29/24 at around 6:00PM. I was greeted at the front door by the front desk and given a business card. Then, the front desk asked me if I would like to open a tab. I handed them my custom Cashapp card to see how they would handle a unique approach other than a typical credit card. The transaction was smooth and there was no judgement. I was able to seat myself and place myself wherever I felt comfortable around the bar area. My server was professional, prompt, dressed appropriately, upright and straight back, proper mannerism and etiquette, clean shoes, clean shaved, proper gestures for a high class setting. I ordered the Rosé as a first choice drink and I received the proper serving size in the proper glass. The wine was subperv after passing a wine tasting that involed reading the smell, taste, color, smoothness, etc. I ordered the Tuna Tartare Tacos and the food was created well with proper handling of raw tuna. All very fresh, lots of color, appropriate, professional design with the sauce, beautiful placement of tacos on metal rack. I asked the server for a drink that is smooth, bubbly, and sweet. The server recommended Pinot Noir. I received the beverage and it was exactly what I asked for and as promised. I then asked the server what drink was the most affordable and most popular. The server recommended Newburgh Brewing. The server mentioned the drink is popular due to price and the citrus flavor. I agree with the server and the drink was very good. I enjoyed the high-class setting, music, and TV. The place was very clean, professional, high-class, and vibrant. One day I hope to come during happy hour. I came alone to be amongst high-class individuals in a vibrant environment. Also, I enjoy giving professional drop-in reviews.
I seen that Sarabeth's recieved some poor reviews despite the visible perfect quality. I came to help Sarabeth's. It appears that some people do not understand that Sarabeth's is high-class and requires a different mental approach. This is not just a typical place you drop in for a random meal. This is a place for you to feel like you are being served by Jeffery refrencing The Fresh Prince of Bell Air TV show. People, please do not defeat the purpose of fine dining or unfortunately, there won't be any fine dining. The pricing is appropriate due to the quality and quantity of what you are recieving on your plate. This is boiled down to how the food is cooked to perfection. Like Chef Ramsay Hells Kitchen. People need to not fixate on the price and sizing but on how the food is cooked, decoration, seasoning, etc. Pretend like you are a judge on Hells Kitchen. I see that unfortunately low IQ individuals can try to destroy a business due to their ignorance or uneducation.
I personally did not order the avacodo toast because of the price. I pictured in my mind bread and avocado something that I could do at home, but now that I see there is a perfectly poached egg on top of the toast which is hard to achieve unless you are professionally trained. I actually one day would like to try it. This is a place for tastings not to fill up like Applebee's.
Recommendations: Have the server ask the customer if they would want them to call a taxi. Mention that the taxi is not paid for but merely an extension to customer service.
To reduce negative reviews due to changing times, have the customer fill out a 2-5 question survey on a tablet or kiosk upon entry. Ask questions about their expectations and also give them a serving number. Then based upon their expectations give an additional shorten menu with alternative choices. Example: What type of food did you come to try? Then mention some select items off your menu and also alternative items that are not on your main menu such as burger and fries. You could also ask: Why have you come to this location today? Answers could be: a referral, socialism, drinks, food,...
Read moreWe arrived on time to our reservation for nine 🫣 (6 adults 3 kiddos) The hostess pointed and said our table wasn’t quite ready. (None of our party minded waiting for a bit - obviously it wasn’t a table for two and much harder to accommodate) My husband who wasn’t paying attention asked what was going on and me thinking the hostess pointed to the table next to us - I explained that they weren’t ready for us yet and I pointed to the table that I believed the hostess had pointed at. Another worker at the front loudly said EXCUSE ME - WHO SAID THAT WAS YOUR TABLE?! I explained that the hostess just pointed at it and the blonde said “No! (rolled eyes) That is NOT YOUR table.” To which I replied “alright” and then we were shown to a different table in the back. The entire exchange felt completely unnecessary and rude considering I wasn’t complaining about the table not being ready and I wasn’t speaking to anyone but my husband. It would have been apparent that I misunderstood if the staff member just waited for us to be shown to our table. I’m giving just two star largely due to this initial interaction. (Although every other interaction with other staff members were great and everyone else was very kind) The other reason for the low stars is that the food was alright- just not worth the price tag. I ordered avocado toast with a poached egg. $26 for one thin slice of bread with glorified guacamole on top, the small poached egg and a very small amount of greens with three grape tomato halves on the side ($22 without the egg) my husband had the salmon benedict. While nothing was wrong with either dish the helpings were small - we were still hungry after our meal (this has literally never happened at a restaurant we’ve gone to before although quite honestly most restaurants seem to give too much food)
Point being there are so many restaurants in New York where the food is AMAZING and you pay the same amount as you would at sarabeths or you get the same good quality of food with more of it for less $$$. For what I heard was an NYC institution Sarabeths was a huge letdown. Hard pass on...
Read moreFirst of all the host staff here is so warm, friendly and accommodating; my family and I made breakfast reservations and we left on time but there was a bike race blocking 6th Avenue so we were over the 15min late grace period but I had my mom and kids go in while I went looking for parking. When I arrived, they hadn’t been seated and I though it was because we lost our reservation but in fact they were waiting for me and kept our reservation and were very kind about it. The food was delicious and our server, among others passing by when we couldn’t find ours were very attentive.
The atmosphere is relaxing even though there’s a lot of customers; the large sunny windows and the groups of family’s an friends makes it feel quaint yet still elegant.
As for the food: the coffee is delicious, as a Puerto Rican, I like strong full bodied coffee and Sarabeth’s serves just that. I had the wild mushroom scramble which is quite a large dish but if you’re hungry you’ll devour every last bite. If you like mushrooms, you’ll love this dish. My mom ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which were nice but I think we would have preferred actually ricotta served on it with a drizzle of lemon compote and some chunky black berry compote. The pancakes were moist and thick but tasted more like cider donuts which we do like but not what we were expecting. My son had the spinach & goat cheese omelette which was fluffy and and the eggs were properly cooked but it lacked seasoning; some salt and pepper resolved it. My daughter had the thick & fluffy French toast which was incredible and she also ordered the yogurt & granola bowl which she raved about; I got to taste the granola which was very good and obviously homemade. We also ordered the basket of muffins and scones which we loved the last time we went several years ago and this time was no different. All our plates came in large portions but we finished our plates because we were all very hungry and took our muffin & scone basket to-go.
Sarabeth’s is a must for breakfast & brunch and will probably be the only place we breakfast when we’re...
