My first visit was at Christmas. I am an out of towner. I have passed this place many times and never stopped. A relative of mine says she goes there everytime she comes into the area so I thought I give it a try. I liked the food offerings. My first meal was a salad and grilled cheese sandwich. The salad was fresh and the portion bountiful. The grilled cheese was like you make it at home. The next day I came back , I tried the Turkey sandwich made with Boar's Head products. Very tasty. I like that they carry great drink and chip vendors like Joe's lemonade. Good desserts too. Those two days were great...included great customer service. Fast forward to yesterday. Country mouse returned to the city ( that's me!). Stopped by for some drinks and chips. The female cashier who rang my items decided to take my two cents....literally. Instead of ringing my 3.99 drinks at 3.99 she rang at 4.00. Excuse me? It was not that the 2 cents is a big deal but it is the principle. Most stores I go to either ring at marked price or give the customer the cents. Curious, I asked why she did that. Instead of telling me why, she said " Well, if the 2 cents is a problem, then I will be glad to charge the 3.99." Umm... no favor done here for me. Either mark the merchandise the 4.00 or charge me what it is marked, the 3.99! I don't do business with places that mark one thing and then charge another. Period. Don't care how little the discrepancy is. It is MY 2 cents to do with as I please, don't assume it is yours for the taking! Not going back...I don't encounter this in the country. Food is good here and prepared well. If you want to donate your extra change, that's your...
Read moreIt is open 24/7 and they serve food like sandwiches, salads, and they have a grill. They also have a smoothies and fresh juices. Overall the staff was cool and they sale beers. Your average NYC deli. (Updated 8-17-23) I downgraded this to two Stars because they manipulated the pricing of their sandwich at the store. Moreover, the guy at the counter was condescending and insincere. The trick is that all their sandwiches are the same price (for the most part). However, if you want free chips and a pickle with your sandwich it must come from the menu (this is stated on the Menu Broad behind the food counter). It does not matter if you order a similar sandwich. For example, I ordered Tuna with Cheese at $12.39 (including the tax). However, if I ordered a tuna melt from the menu at the same price. I would have gotten a free bag of chips and a pickle at no added cost. If you like chips with your sandwich and a pickle at no added cost! Make sure you get a sandwich...
Read moreFood was OK ham was nice the rest of it ie. Bread, Salad, Sauce all tasted bland and the same no tatse difference at all. Staff were slightly dismissive but on the rude side, nothing unattractive though. If anything it adds to that classic NY Deli/Bodega image we all have 😆. The area of which it is situated isn't the best I wouldn't reccomend a night visit unless you were based local during the day it was bad enough however that stands more for the nearby Fulton Street subway entrance. If I had to summarise, Food was OK, Area wasn't the best, Convinece was good, Selection was poor but I'd go again if I was nearby. Only thing I'd say is when I went they only had cold options don't know if that's a permanent thing...
