5 stars! A true gem in the neighborhood!
I went to Sipsteria for dinner last night and loved it so much, I came back this morning for breakfast! It’s such a cozy, stylish café with a welcoming vibe and truly impressive food.
This morning I had one of their specialty desserts something between a cheesecake and a tart delicate, creamy, and full of flavor. It wasn’t exactly a classic cheesecake, which made it even more interesting. Along with a perfectly brewed coffee, it made my morning feel special.
For dinner, I tried the Chicken Chkmeruli in green tarragon sauce rich, fragrant, and full of traditional Georgian flavor. I also had the shrimp salad, which was light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. Every dish felt carefully crafted, with attention to both taste and presentation.
I just found out this is actually their second location the original is in Harlem and I’m so happy they opened right here in our neighborhood on Amsterdam Ave. Sipsteria already feels like a local favorite. Whether you’re looking for a great breakfast or an elegant dinner, this place is a must-visit. Proud to have it in the...
Read moreExactly what the neighborhood has needed— a very well done spot with wine, beer and cocktails and absolutely delicious food. We sat at the bar which was great because of the open kitchen concept, so we were able to watch the chefs and smells the smells which were intoxicating. We had the kachipuri which was divine, the cucumber and tomato salad which had this delicious herby spice forward dressing (which I think they should bottle and sell!), and a lamb dish they were testing out which my boyfriend loved and the red beans and pickled fruits and vegetables which was a delightful mix of savory and tart! As a non meat eater there were a lot of options to select from. The owner, Georgie, was sitting next to us and was a delight to chat with and made great recommendations with wine. We will ABSOLUTELY be back again and again. Sipsteria is a wonderful and needed addition to the...
Read moreBoth times I have gone I have been rudely dismissed and essentially shooed away. The service is terrible and extremely unhelpful to people walking in, and I have no idea what the food is like (though it looks yummy) because both times I tried asking about vegan items, the service looked extremely disinterested and weren’t speaking up enough for me to hear them. I tried to take something to-go, but was just told moments ago that is not something you do. The last two businesses there failed because of low foot traffic and the slow pace of business in the Upper West Side. I don’t know what it is about wanting to preserve an extremely pretentious cafe culture, but I would be careful. I hope your cafe doesn’t fail within the year, and I hope at some point to be able to try the lovely vegan items...
