I have been here twice. The first time was late in the evening and it was empty. The food was good and the service was great. However today during lunch time things are very different. Where do I begin? Well I’m African American . As I approached the counter whoever was supposed to take my order decided to walk away for no apparent reason. When Caucasian people approached their orders were taken ahead of me although I was on line and in front of them. I could only laugh about it. But I was sarcastic and asked why did you walk away when I approached? Of course there was no response. Caucasian people also get the “How are you greeting?” I didn’t. After my order was made the cashier attempted to ring it up but she asked the Caucasian people that had bulldozed their way ahead of me. Before I could answer she had already put down my order was inquiring as to what their order was. I finally got my order paid and added some more sarcasm. I don’t judge or hate any race of people, I simply take each experience in life as a lesson. Interpret it how you like but this was my experience. I’m not angry just annoyed and that pretty much spoils lunch. When at Sophie’s be aware! Don’t judge the food but weigh the experience you receive from the people who are serving you. I wouldn’t even waste my time speaking to a manager or otherwise. I have been in this situation many times. But this is probably my first...
Read moreI have dined at this restaurant and have recommended it to family and colleagues alike, but my recent visit was most disappointing. After waiting in line to be serviced a wait person appeared and began servicing a woman who had walked to the counter. Politely, I made mention of the fact that I was waiting for service and was in line before the woman who was mistakenly being serviced. The gentleman replied "Okay, give me a minute". No apology. No attempt to motion to right the wrong, or to grab the attention of a new server.
I walked to the front cashier and asked to speak with a/the manager. After a few minutes a gentleman appeared. I identified myself with an explanation for my request for his assistance. Pointing out the importance of principle and such, adding the whole experience left me with a negative impression of Sophie's. Not too mention the manager was not helpful nor did he offer any suggestion for my...
Read moreSophie’s Cuisine completely caught me off guard—in the best way possible. From the moment I walked in, the warmth of the atmosphere made it feel more like a family kitchen than a restaurant. The service was attentive without being pushy, and everything felt personal, like they genuinely cared about the experience.
Now let’s talk about that Cuban sandwich. Hands down, it’s my favorite item on the menu. Perfectly toasted bread, tender pork, tangy pickles, and melted cheese layered with precision—but what really set it apart were the potato sticks. That crispy crunch woven throughout the sandwich? Genius. It’s comfort food with character. I’ve had Cuban sandwiches before, but none like this.
If you’re looking for food that’s not just delicious but made with heart, Sophie’s Cuisine won’t...
