Probably the best quick bite in the area - I come here (the herald square Times Square black hole tornado) often for rehearsals and always end up going to a dumb place like pret for a quick meal and I end up having to spend a dumb 15-20 bucks to fill my dumb stomach with food that shouldn't cost that much. Glad I realized this place exists! The vegan dumplings for one were a cool new flavor for me - pumpkin with edamame and corn. Makes for very good texture. The chicken dumplings were more of the flavor I'm used to but in the end I liked the veggie ones for their novelty and texture. The dumplings come with two sauces - a vinegar and a chili oil and honestly I could drink a bowl of each (this is me suggesting bigger sauce containers for easier dunking and more sauce). I also got the pickled Napa cabbage which was a little too sweet for me - there are huge chilis in it as well but somehow they weren't spicy. The crispness and texture was a good pairing with the dumplings though. Will definitely come back to try the pork and shrimp dumplings, the pork buns, and maybe some of their specials. When I was there they also had chicken wontons with a special sauce, and a noodle dish. There's a good amount stools inside for dine-in - perfect if you're eating alone or with one other person. Wasn't busy when I was there around 5:30p - certainly not as busy as the places on the avenues. The guy working the place was also...
Read moreI tried many of the items on their menu and was blown away. Their potstickers are the star as they well should be. I grew up eating potstickers weekly and this was the first time I was reminded of my childhood since moving away from home. I tried the chicken and classic. The classic was my favorite but the chicken was surprisingly delicious. Both dumplings were full of juicy filling and the skins were seared perfecting and had the perfect chew. Their attention to detail is particularly noticeable with their sauce options, their hot oil is by far the best Ive had in a long time. It is savory but most importantly actually spicy and their soy dipping sauce is tangy and slightly sweet, a perfect match for the potstickers.
The other items on their menu that stood out were their cold noodles and pork bao. The noodles were refreshing on a hot summer day and are seasonal, the pork bao is juicy and tender with crisp cucumber. With juices overflowing I could not have been happier with my selection for lunch.
Front of house is a man named David who is very hospitable and made great food recommendations. Food came promptly (
Read moreIt's the newest addition to the growing list of potstickers places in Manhattan. However, a well chosen location in area that is lacking good choices for dumplings/potstickers.
There are currently three choices of dumplings: pork, shrimp and veggies; turkey with veggies or just vegetables. Look at the menu for specifics. You can get them steamed or pan fried. There are three options of number of dumplings: 4, 6 or 8. There are other dishes such as scallion pancakes, egg rolls and pickled napa cabbages. Prices are reasonable.
We ordered the classic pork potstickers with a side of scallion pancakes. There is a not shortage of scallions in the pancake and I really enjoyed it. The scallion pancake was less flaky and more crispy than most but still delivered on flavor. Dip it in the homemade chili sauce which adds a nice kick to the pancake. The dumplings are quite tasty and juicy. The pork and shrimp are a nice base to the filling. You can taste the natural sweetness from the napa cabbage and the chives add that slight pungentness. It was a very scrumptious dumpling.
Owners are sweet and space has some stools to sit and wait. Apparently, there will be new additions as summer approach which is...
