This was a randomised choice while neandering in and around the famed LES nightlife district just off of the Delancey Street subway entrances. Very very popular place to be and noted that filming during the day is not unheard of ...
Tre was an open aired restaurant front which is narrowing by comparison to many other restaurants three times its size. Seating at the front is a must for cocktail-chasers en masse. Almost done over with a clunking of glasses, cheers, and a calvacade of smiles running across tables. Once inside, the industrial lit roominess is sparse. So reading menus comes with having to pull out the phone to get a grip on seeing more with the flashlight on ! Nevertheless, the aluminum seats are definitely harder on the underside after an hour or so seated. Unless proven to cheekier sides that withstand the pressure !
On ordering we found a nice selection of appetizers to entrees. Having one appetizer split between us it seemed fine (Fried Artichokes). But upon reception on our entrees my best friend from LA liked his immediately, seeing mine just as well. Though the first bite into it was a wallop of sodium packed fettuccine. Even after trying to get it down was another. It screamed of stinging the palate. An aftetaste that certainly only tortilla chips have had the same valence branded by very recognizeable 'chip' brands in food stores across the country.
So the waiter really politely accepted to exchange it for something else. Yet I re-ordered the same entree. Minutes later, having it brought onto the table -- all smiles, and awaiting a new morsel. The bite didn't take long to again find the same high-sodium laced contents in the dish. It was somewhat palatable. Being starved for something to eat -- just let on how wonderful it tasted. My friend took a couple of bites and conveyed how salty it is.
So, aside the innumerable other patrons crowding to get into the place within the hour of dining there, finally reached our limits and departed. My friend graciously covered the bill. Of course it deeply reminded me of someone's urinating into the food and what it would taste like if it were true. But we agreed that it probably was the ratio by combining 'salted butter' with mushrooms and adding more salt to the mixture to taste. If a very select 'unsalted' butter had simmered the mushrooms altogether the tasted results would be more delicately balanced. Than this.
Culinary arts on the one hand watched via many YouTube videos from food experts like Anthony Bourdain onward --- impresses one to note unsubtle flavors. To distinguish bad tastes to more pleasurable ones overall. So having purchased an entree only to discover no change is awfully embarassing to return it to the kitchen a second.
We haven't much in the way of knowing where to dine out.
When [not in a group like setting] guises can be reached by the ambiance, staging, lighting, and to the number of patrons already seated within the venue. All of these simple elements often make it easier to get settled on choosing a place to dine to talk. Or to conversely hold a private conversation audible enough to hear each other in dialogue.
Without this it wouldn't be fair to say whether or not that the restaurant doesn't have its popularity among the number of customers clambering in for the night air to partygoers seeking a nightcap before heading out.
Not that we disagreed on my entree but it wasn't the greatest Italian food joint honestly. Moreover, there are so many better places that will equally rank side-to-side with its food quality, whether from another borough or venue without all of the pertinent pay staging. And to dine elsewhere. So many good places get overlooked or become under-rated due to the general lack of patrons. BUT surely having tried other Italian restsurants even in Milano, is just knowing what those...
Read moreDo NOT choose this place to celebrate anything. I chose this place by the reviews to celebrate with 10 friends for my birthday. The service was absolutely terrible and the attitudes were even worse. Half of my table had to wait 20 mins for their food while the other half was served AND they were serving other tables without finishing ours first! This made absolutely no sense!! They also had an issue splitting the bill for me because we had some people who don’t drink in the group. I called ahead of time and asked if separate checks would be an issue, and was assured it wouldn’t be. Well it was….and they were not happy. Finally when it was time for the bill to be dropped, they told us we had to go through the whole bill and circle everything we ordered and give them the card they wanted to charge for each thing. This was insane as I told them separating it from the beginning would be way easier, that way you just drop each check to each couple. The server then comes back over 5 mins later asking for the bill because we needed to pay because they were changing shifts. Like hello! This is gonna take us some time because you gave us all the work to do on our end. As we were going through the bill, we realized things were rung in wrong and we had extra stuff on the bill. After already spending 25 mins trying to decipher the bill, my boyfriend got up to deal with it. He quickly called me over as he was being told he was “too confrontational” and the servers didn’t want to deal with him anymore. Everyone sat at the table awkwardly just waiting for this check situation to be over with. 30/40 mins later. As someone who is a manager in hospitality, this was a huge disappointment and I...
Read moreSuch a shame for a restaurant with amazing food. I felt that the waitress doesn't cater to black people when I arrived. I didn't feel welcomed by her. I will have a picture of her. I came here specifically because I looked online and saw they had a toast and bubbles special on Thursdays. I was super excited to try it but was disappointed by how the waitress treated me because of my skin color. I came alone only 20 minutes after they opened and it was very empty. The waitress sat me in the back. I asked to change my seat because there was no one there and she told me she couldn't cause there were tons of reservations. Another waitress had to assure her it was okay to change my table. I did the toast and bubbles and ordered a side of fries in which was not free I told her I was willing to pay full price only $12 I heard her whispering to the other waitress can we do that. I was very confused because I didn't ask her for a favor the fries cost $12 in addition to the special and I told her I was willing to pay for it cause I can afford the extra money so I could not understand why she asked that question. Overall food very good but I will not return if she still works there as she is racist. I left within 1 hour and it was not busy as it was claiming to be. She didn't even have the decency to give me the check she asked another woman who was not white to give it to me and collect it from me while she stood around doing nothing. To the owner fire her because black people have money too and if this is how she acts as a store manager at a jewelry store I would not want her to...
