This is one of my favourite Chinese places in the financial district. There's a huge buffet selection in the basement that charges by weight. As well as Chinese selections there are also some salad selections too. You should be able to find something you like.
On the first floor they have counter service, with a smaller selection of items. Though they did recently add a gourmet noodle counter. And it serves won ton noodles - using proper won ton noodles. Although you can pick several other different types of noodles if you'd prefer, though you'd be WRONG! Proper won ton noodles should be a very specific thin, yellow egg noodle and it should also be al dente. Remarkably they, unlike a lot of Chinese places, use the right noodle and get the right texture. You can also have cha siu (roast pork) with the won ton noodles. I was a bit horrified at first that they did this as it's not traditional, but it actually makes the bowl very tasty as the won ton dumplings aren't that great. Note, it's a huge portion, you could easily share this between two people. Or just come hungry.
There's also a bubble tea stall in the front, which I've never tried. There's a large amount of seating upstairs and some seating on the first floor.
Get here before noon to get a discount and avoid the work lunch...

I’ve been eating at Yips for years, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best spots in the neighborhood—not just for the flavor, but also for the incredible value. The food is so delicious and so reasonably priced.
Some standouts for me:
The garlic shrimp is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor.
The beef chow fun is savory and satisfying—it reminds me a lot of Thai Pad See Ew in the best way.
And the curry chicken? Rich, creamy, with just the right amount of spice. Absolute comfort food.
Everything on the menu is reliably good, and you can’t beat the prices, especially in this part of Manhattan.
After loving their food for so long, I reached out to them for catering for a wedding, and the manager went above and beyond. Not only did he offer a generous deal because it was a special occasion, but he made sure there was more than enough food for nearly 80 guests. The quality, quantity, and service were so impressive I added an extra $50 tip—it was that good.
Compared to other restaurants I’ve ordered from on DoorDash or Seamless, Yips stands in a league of its own. This place is a staple for people who work or live in the Financial District—and once you try it, you’ll...

A month ago I came to work not feeling well and wanted some chicken rice soup. I was told this would be 9.95. However the small Wonton soup was 3.75. It's just your basic Chinese-American food but it hit the spot and the price was better than outside the City.
Today I hit up the buffet downstairs. There's a handwritten sign on the door that it's $7.99/lb 10:30 - 3:30. I got about 3/4 (.76) a pound of food and was charged 7.86, by my estimation I paid $9.50 a pound. Still an ok deal but the dishonesty leaves a bad taste in my mouth. On top of that, I got a lot of the vegetable lo mein, and you can get that upstairs for about 5 bucks, and you can get their specials with a lot more food for $8.75. (The next time you get Chinese food at home weigh it on a food scale, you'll be surprised how little a pound is).
On the good side, the food isn't too greasy and since it's a buffet you can control your portion size and how much of each item you want. There are even proteins all by themselves. The place is very, very clean if you're...
