Had heard a lot of hype around bar Cino from social media but unfortunately it disappointed.
Food (3/5) We ordered: fig / cheese / prosciutto bruschetta (4/5) steamed clams (4/5) mushroom and herb pizza (3/5) tagliatelle with mushrooms (2/5). The pizzas in general are very very thin - paper thin - which is fine but it gets burnt easily so the flavor was mostly just char/ burn. The mushroom andherb pizza we thought didn’t have much flavor. Similarly the tagliatelle and mushroom was not worth the $22 - not that much flavor and something you could make at home.
Service (3/5) The front / greeting area was very nice and were accommodating of us being a few minutes late which we greatly appreciated. Our server however we thought was a bit curt. We had originally wanted to order the sausage pizza but they ran out of sausage so we made the quick decision to get the mushroom herb pizza - I had asked if the flavor profile between the mushroom herb pizza would be similar to the mushroom pasta we had wanted - servers response made it sound like I had asked an outrageous question (“well one is pizza and one is pasta so no”). She seemed a bit impatient / curt throughout the rest of the dinner.
Ambiance (5/5) Cute restaurant and we had a cute side table for 2 by the window which was great.
Overall - based on food and service, bar Cino was a solid 3/5 stars and didn’t live up to all the recommendations / hype especially...
Read moreBar'Cino is a local restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island that offers a delightful dining experience to its customers. With a kind and welcoming manager, staff as Molly, Julia and everyone else, the restaurant creates a great ambiance for its guests. The food is delicious, and the flavors are just perfect. The olives served here are particularly scrumptious, and the Tuscan kale salad is the best. The salad is loaded with citrusy dressing and cheese that adds to its rich taste. If you add on some protein or seafood, it would be a great addition to your meal. If you are looking for a great drink, then the flavored old-fashioned is a must-try.
Moreover, the manager is very helpful and goes out of his way to ensure that his customers have a great time. Recently, while I was visiting he saved the evening by finding a lost earring that my friend dropped. He went about the beyond and made sure to contact us and let us know. My friend was very happy and appreciated the manager giving us a call to let us know. So once again, thank you Bar’Cino for your continued great service and hospitality.
Overall, Bar'Cino is a fantastic place to dine and I highly recommend it to people who are visiting Newport,...
Read moreThis was a great place to eat! Service was great— I was seated promptly and had a great waitress. I sat at the open bar/kitchen where I got to see the food being cooked. You can tell that there was a spirit of collaboration here while the team was cooking— and the food was being freshly cooked. 5/5 for service
The food— really great flavors and execution here but I had to kick off a few points for a few reasons. I ordered the tuna bruschetta and found the tuna to be a little on the dry side and the texture reminded me of canned tuna. The bread was a little too charred, so I’m knocking off a point here. I also had the mushroom and pesto tagliatelle which was phenomenal and had near perfect execution. I did think there was a stalk or two of asparagus that was too fibrous and really unpleasant to eat and chew on, so I knock a little bit off for execution here. I also think the dish was a bit on the salty side— but still tasty. 4/5 for food
Drinks— lots of selection here if you drink alcohol or not. Can please your palate regardless of if you like soda, wine, beer, or cocktails.
Overall a 4.2– I want to come back and try a...
