Well...... The place looked pretty good walking in. OOOHHHHH BUT THEN!......... I was first greeted by what appeared to be the owner. And because she was the only one up front. She seemed as though she didnt want to be bothered seating me, so she pawned me off to someone else.
After being seated, I started making notes about everything making my way to their bathroom. I have to honestly say the men's bathroom was absolutely beautiful......"at one time!" Sorry ladies, didnt check out your bathroom, didnt want to get arrested! You can definitely tell the bathroom had been in need of some repairs and whomever they had do them, didnt really know what they were doing. Or simply cut corners to save money. Fixtures were busted off the walls and not repaired, toilet stall walls repaired with that artificial deck lumber, broken faucets, and rolls of paper towels left on the counter soaked with water rather in the despenser. Just to name a few things.
Moving on to the food. First impression would tell you this is a Chinese restaurant. But this is far from one. Not to name nationality of the cooks (dont want to sound racist) but they are definitely NOT Chinese. The food selection was primarily finger foods or American comfort foods. Things like Mac and cheese, mash potatoes and gravy, fried okra, French fries, egg rolls, pot stickers, chicken nuggets, 2 flavors of chicken wings and so on. They only had 2 sections for "Chinese Food." What they called wonton soup literally looked like barf in water. And let me not forget "their" wannabe sushi bar and wannabe hibachi grill. I could seriously write a whole other paragraph. Most of the food looked like it had been there for HOURS! WAY over cooked and mostly cold. I asked for a drink to go and was given cup so small that 2 good swallows and it was done.
Finally, the bill. For what I paid for dinner, I would have expected crab legs, cold shrimp, and a whole lot more. Chances of me coming back are very slim. I give it a 2 star instead of 1 because the place was overall pretty clean. Please keep in mind my review is based on comparing THOUSANDS of chinese restraunts I have been to around the nation. Nothing will ever compare to actually having authentic chinese cuisine from China, but there are better places I've been to than this. Way better. Sometimes I wonder if I'm not actually...
Read moreI went here on Wednesday, and going to be honest. I dig the new sushi bar and the hibachi grill. I really think these new additions will help rake in more customers. My advice to the people at Grand Buffet is try to prioritize Advertisements. Try posting your foods on Social Media. I've noticed a lot of young people working there, you young workers will be able to reach the social market the most. So try and use as much advertisement as you can. Rent a billboard, put signs along the roads, make a commercial. Also, try adding more aesthetic to the restaurant, what ever culture its from, try and actually make it feel like that culture, use more paintings, try and tidy up the front of the store, more specifically the corner with the golden tree towards the entrance of the restaurant. It makes the rest of the store look a bit bad, try hiring someone to add something to make it look more presentable. Me personally would try adding a wall, with a tiny waterfall, with a Cherry blossom tree, and with bamboo, and use it as a wishing well. Allowing people to put coins in the water. One more thing, try to make a friendly atmosphere. You can do that by hiring someone that's naturally charismatic, and inviting, that way people will be attracted to both looks and feel of the restaurant. Alright, I gave you my 2 senses. I hope you put these into consideration, I really want your restaurant to succeed. Great restaurant and...
Read moreI'll start with the only good thing I can say, and that's they kept our drinks full. I came in with a group of 8 around 8:30 to a restaurant at least half filled, so I didn't realize anything was wrong until we were sat and went to the buffet to make plates. Almost every pan was either empty or had only 2 or 3 servings of food left, which was disappointing, but we figured they must've been hit hard before we arrived and was just in the process of making more. Needless to say, we were wrong. The only things they replenished while we stayed and ate scraps were a small pan of sesame chicken(not enough for even all 8 of us to get a single scoop each, some fried rice, half cooked ribs(all fat, no meat), and a noodle dish. I'd just like to say besides the chewy ribs that what we were able to scrap up was good, but considering we were all super hungry, that's not saying much. I feel it could have definitely been better, especially for $20 a person with a drink and also the fact the restaurant was at least half filled with other customers besides just us so the food wouldn't have been...
