I love Marriott, been staying with them for years. You have to do something about the showers. It seems like it’s the same design at many of the remodeled Townplace Suites I stay at. I understand you’re probably going for some kind of “modern look” by having no shower door but it didn’t work. Maybe if you had bigger showers but immediately after turning the shower on it starts pooling on the bathroom floor. Not a little splash over but an entire puddle that covers a quarter of the bathroom. Keep in mind this is after me trying to aim the shower head as low as possible to avoid this. It takes me completely soaking an entire other towel every shower to soak it up.
On the good side this forces you to rush through your shower due to the stress of watching your bathroom flood. This is an added bonus since the fact there is no door causes you to freeze your behind off as cold air flows in from the rest of the room.
Finally, the good news. I have a solution, well two actually. One, the right solution, which would be to do the obvious and retrofit a sliding glass door that would solve both these problems. The only problem is this would probably cost about a grand per room, so I’m guessing it just ain’t gonna happen. The other solution would probably cost you about $100 per room and would cause no downtime.. If you simply installed a handheld showerhead. That could be pointed straight down and completely eliminate at least the flooding issue. While not freezing my rear off is a nice luxury I realize it’s not as absurd as the bathroom flooding every time you take a shower.
Ok, now that we’ve said all that, what will really happen? Nothing. Why? Because Marriott is a huge company. It makes decisions like these, that are the most obvious and common sensible in the world, almost impossible. It’s problems like these that are both too small and too big for decisions to be made. I don’t blame at all the management that runs this specific location. I am sure they played no part in what types of showers were installed when they were remodeled. Even though they are now the ones that have to deal with the aftermath. if they went out on their own and just decided to fix the problem and spend $100K to update all the showers they’d probably be fired in a week.
All in all, I love Marriott. Please fix...
Read moreMarriott used to be a name I associated with quality and good service. This will be my last stay in a Marriott hotel. There are tons of hotels in the area, I would strongly suggest looking into some others before choosing this one. First the good: The room was clean. No complaints there at all. Sorry, that's about all I can say there. The bad: No housekeeping service!! I am here for 5 nights and will not have my beds made, bathroom cleaned, anything. I can call down for towels and leave my trash outside the door. I was told this was now Marriott's policy. I'm sorry, but for a thousand dollars, I don't think expecting housekeeping is unreasonable. I wouldn't go five nights in my own house without cleaning. Should I be buying my own cleaning supplies too? The refrigerator is barely cold enough to keep food, even at it's coldest setting. Full kitchen, but only a tiny wastebasket for trash. The shower, while pretty and modern, with no door or curtain, results in water all over the place. No bathroom fan (the desk told me it was just silent, yet it doesn't clear steam or odors at all, maybe due to it's silence they aren't aware that they don't work?) Two almost throw-pillow sized pillows on each bed. I called down for extras and was told they do not have a single pillow in the entire hotel to spare. I went to WalMart and bought my own pillow. Shampoo and conditioner are Paul Mitchell, which would be nice if they were larger than a tube of chapstick. Literally. The pool, while convenient and enjoyed by the kids, was not clean any time we used it. There was a skimmer on the side of the pool that we had to skim out the bugs ourselves. Multiple times. The towel bins at the pool are usually empty, so make sure you go to the front desk before you're wet to get towels for the pool. The hallway noise is super audible. Obviously you hear noise in a hotel room. But each morning I have been woken up between 4:30 and 6am by the sounds of doors up and down the hall closing. You do have do really pull very hard on them to get them to latch shut, so maybe that's why, but pretty hard to get a good night's sleep this way. Overall just very very disappointed, been looking forward to this trip and this hotel stay has just put us all in a foul mood, wishing I had...

Rooms - Most points were lost due to the room. We reserved a 2 bedroom, thinking like with most Marriott properties it would have 2 bathrooms, not the case. The 2 king bedrooms were spacious, maybe for families Management could consider 1 king and 2 twins.
The rooms seemed old, as if they hadn’t been updated in some time. The one bathroom has no exhaust (steam), and it showed. Mold was visible around the shower, vanity mirror, and everything metal was rusted (see pics). The bathroom towel holder shows its wear and tear.
On two separate occasions we saw bugs running across the carpet, that turned out to be millipedes, which are found in areas of high moisture.
The sitting area seemed too large for the one 2-seater luv seat and ottoman. But hey it gives a nice area for kids playing and the pull out sofa.
The room also contained a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, basic dishes, and a coffee maker.
As we requested, our room was cleaned.
Breakfast - I recommend getting there early. I believe it stopped at 9AM, and by then everything was gone. I think the last fresh food batch out was 8:45AM. The kitchen did an excellent job keeping up with the last minute breakfast arrivals.
Pool. They do have an outside pool with chairs and umbrellas. Although we did not use the pool, we always saw people in it as we came and went.
Parking - There was ample parking all around the building.
Service - Was phenomenal from the area restaurant recommendations, housekeeping, to early check in (Marriot Bonvoy Member).
Location - The hotel is about 2-3 miles from the airport and they offer shuttle service (even saw the shuttle at Walmart). The hotel is about 1 miles from the convention center, but again they offer shuttle service.
There are plenty of fast food options in the immediate area. The Tanger Outlets are 1 minute away across the street.
The location was great for us as we toured isle of Palms, Kiawah Island, Daniel’s Island, Sullivan’s island, and many other attractions.
If you have a car, I recommend trying to get into The Fleet Landing restaurant while in...
