First, let me say that the quality of our furniture from LaZBoy is excellent. Absolutely top notch and we have no complaints about it. It is beautiful and functional. Exactly what we wanted when we chose LaZBoy.
Our experience in the North Charleston showroom was also quite good. We worked with a sales lady who is no longer with the company, but she took the time to listen to our needs and match us with furniture, rugs, and end tables that met those needs. She was easy and pleasant to work with and I never got the impression I was being “sold to” so much as being provided with excellent service. The Design Studio they use is really fun, and having their on-staff interior designer come to our home to make sure the furniture worked in our space was well worth the e tea time. Our one complaint from the actual sales process is that we were sold a power center console on the premise that it could be hooked up to a battery like the chairs on the loveseat can be, but in truth, it only works when plugged in. Since this piece cannot sit next to a wall, due to our open floor plan, the power features are completely useless to us. We asked specifically about this twice, and were told by two separate employees that the console features (basically a charging station for phones/tablets and garish lights in the cup holders) could be powered by a rechargeable battery. I reported this problem on the day we took delivery (last Thursday- it is now Tuesday) and was told I’d be getting a call from either a customer satisfaction representative or a store employee, but so far... crickets. I will be calling again today to hopefully get some sort of resolution.
Finally, while the delivery men were very kind and professional, they managed to put a 5” hole in my wall when moving our sleeper sofa upstairs. They have assured me that they will cover the repair, and I understand these things happen. We did have the interior design lady and our sales lady measure when they were in our home to be sure the couch could be moved up our staircase before we purchased. We would not have just presumed it would fit. But, the couch is now where we want it, and walls can be repaired. I definitely recommend having the design team come out if you are buying anything of great size or that will need to go upstairs.
Hopefully, LaZBoy will make the console issue right and cover the wall repair, because otherwise we are very pleased with our purchase. The slow response from the customer satisfaction team is disappointing, however. I have worked in sales jobs for years and that is not how you gain referrals or...
Read moreAbsolutely the WORST customer service. In fact, customer service does not exist in this establishment. Paid for a chair and for 3 days could not get a delivery scheduled. What do we pay a delivery fee for? Kept getting the run around. Could not get phone calls returned. Finally when I'd had enough I told them to CANCEL our order. Shontay, the logistics manager, ( not sure if that's spelled correctly) refused to. She kept saying they did their part to try to set up a delivery. She was very condescending on the phone. I demanded a cancellation. We never could get the manager Jean on the phone, as we were told she was in meetings. For 2 days. My husband called later to speak to our salesperson Bob Giordano to have the order canceled. He said he would. This was on Friday December 2nd. The next morning, I called to verify the order had actually been cancelled, the receptionist looked into my account, and stated that it didn't say one way or the other. She said she would have to have Bob call us back. I knew right then it had not been cancelled. Three hours later, surprise, no phone call from Bob. Husband called and asked for the names and numbers of district and regional managers. Miraculously, Jean the manager was now on the phone, stating that there was a delivery scheduled for Dec. 8th. Nobody cleared this with us. He demanded a refund. Again. Finally about 30 minutes later, he received an email confirming it had been cancelled. Unbelievable that these people outright refused to give us a refund for 2 days. Bob thought he could just keep putting us off and stick us with a chair and keep his commission. Well, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for NOT scheduling a delivery. I got the exact same chair at Hamilton's Fine Furniture in Walterboro, SC and saved just over $300!! And was able to take home the same day we purchased. So if anybody reading this is in the market for new furniture, make the drive to Walterboro and buy from a family owned business, again that is Hamilton's Fine Furniture. And I need to also let consumers know that the protective coating that La-Z-boy galleries tries to get you to add onto your furniture, is NOT necessary. It comes from the factory ALREADY protected. Just another money making scheme. So once again, Thank you Bob Giordano, Jean, and Shontay (sp), for saving us money and helping us find another place to...
Read moreJune, 2025. I have been a LaZBoy customer for decades. I had been using a rocker for a tall person because I, mistakenly, thought it would fit me better. And, the rocking feature did help propel me out of the chair. But, when you rock forward, you rock down and I was struggling. I am a fat person, but only 5'8". I don't usually like to include a photo or talk about myself, but I want to help others in my situation; I am closer than I would care to admit to the chair weight limit. My North Charleston representative walked me through features and sizes. As I have aged and developed mobility issues, I have had to order, "sight-unseen". I purchased the platinum Pinnacle, recliner and have been using it for two weeks. I am very happy with the purchase. I follow the motor directions scrupulously and can get very comfortable. It does get into the "zero gravity" position, giving me relief from common pressure points. The headrest has proven very useful. The motor is very quiet and the chair looks great. A huge bonus for me, is that the chair is high enough that I don't actually need the power-lift feature. It is now the easiest seat in my home to rise from. And, I have the peace-of-mind of having the lift mechanism if I ever need it. I have two minor negatives. First, the footrest is not long enough. I have relatively short legs and they stick over the edge by about eight inches, which is fine for just relaxing, but would be a problem for sleeping. Second, the remote needs a a memory feature that will take you to your "prefered" position, so you don't have to adjust back, legrest and head every time. Then a "home" button to bring everything back to upright position. Overall, I would buy this chair again in a heartbeat. If they make one with an extended legrest, I would buy it for the bedroom. Five, years ago, I called the Charleston area store from Cleveland, OH. The sales rep was super nice and knowledgeable about the products. He talked me through my options and the issues created by pandemic protocols. I was able to get what I needed delivered in an...
