Tried the Melting Pot with my partner for the first time tonight for our fifth anniversary. We unfortunately made a very last minute reservation and came in not too long before close. The staff were so incredibly gracious about it and didn’t rush the experience at all. We told them it was an anniversary meal and they set a congratulatory card signed by all the staff at our table, which was sweet. Paige was our server and she was absolutely delightful, very kind and attentive. We decided to do the date night four course meal, and chose the spinach and artichoke fondue. The dish was good- not quite as flavorful as I’d expected, but I think that could just be from our choice of cheese. All the accoutrements looked fresh and appetizing, besides the tortilla chips (I found them to be a hilarious addition) but my partner enjoyed them. I’d heard that the meals weren’t very filling, but we didn’t find that to be the case at all. In fact, I was approaching critical levels of full before we even got to the main. They brought out two salads of our choice between the cheese fondue and the entree course, which tasted fresh and earthy. My partner got the classic entree course and I chose the steak lovers. We also chose the bourguignonne preparation style in a bit of a panic, so we didn’t realize that we’d be essentially deep frying our entrees (lol) but it ended up being delicious anyways! They provide a tempura batter and panko breadcrumbs and we had fun assembling each piece and slowly dropping them in the oil. The pepper steak was good, but the bourbon rub steak really stood out. They also provided some veggies which we tried to eat but unfortunately couldn’t get very far into due to almost exploding with food already. We saved just enough room for the dessert, which was turtle fondue with a variety of small bite desserts like brownies, angel cake, rice crispies, marshmallows, strawberries, and bananas. We sampled many of them, but honestly the bananas went so perfectly with the chocolate that we ended up requesting more. Once they could’ve rolled us out like cheese wheels we finally signaled for the check and went. Overall very good experience, 10/10 staff,...
Read moreWe booked a 10:30 PM reservation at The Melting Pot in Oklahoma City for Valentine’s Day, knowing it would be a busy night, but we didn’t expect the level of disorganization we experienced. Unfortunately, we weren’t seated until 10:50 PM, and when we finally got to our table, it wasn’t even prepared correctly. Instead of the chocolate-covered strawberries we had ordered, there was a vase of roses, which was a more expensive option we didn’t request and didn’t want to be charged for. The strawberries didn’t arrive until we asked for them, and even then, the staff couldn’t find them, leaving us waiting an extra 20 minutes at the end of our meal just to receive them.
I completely understand that Valentine’s Day is a hectic night, but it was clear the restaurant was not prepared to handle the volume of reservations. Our waiter was completely overwhelmed, juggling way too many tables, which led to delays in every part of our evening. We arrived at 10:20 PM and didn’t leave until 1:15 AM, and that wasn’t because we were taking our time. It was because of the endless waiting. By 1 AM, we were so exhausted that we took the chocolate portion of our meal to go instead of enjoying it there.
I’ve been to this location before with no issues, but this experience was really disappointing. Management should have closed off sections or limited reservations rather than stretching the staff so thin. It was clear that profit was prioritized over people, which led to a frustrating and exhausting night for both guests and employees. Our waiter was doing his best, but it was obvious he was running ragged, and I can only imagine how stressful this was for the whole team.
This visit left a bad impression, and I really hope management reevaluates how they handle high-demand nights in the future. The food was still good, but the lack of preparation and staffing made for a really...
Read moreI came here on Valentine's day. I prebooked their $300 Valentine's package with a 6pm reservation. It was a joke from the very beginning. We arrived at 5:30 planning to get a couple drinks from the bar before our meal. Took 10 minutes for a bartender to come take our order. I ordered a gin martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives. Bartender came back 5 minutes later and said "nobody prepped any bleu cheese stuffed olives and he didn't have time to make any." Ok, I get that things happen so I ordered it with regular olives. He comes back 5 minutes later because he forgot what my girlfriend ordered. Our drinks finally arrived just before 6. So we paid and took our drinks back up to the host table expecting to be seated. We were told that our table wasn't ready yet. We were seated at 6:20 and the experience got worse from there. Our server took 10+ minutes to come to the table after we were seated, dropped off the menus and took our drink orders. Normally this is no problem, however, it was a prefixed menu that day and the menu explained exactly 0 of the dishes you could choose from. We had to pull up the menu online just to figure out which of the 2 options for each course we wanted. Server came back and dropped off the drinks and we ordered our food. Normally, the cheese fondue is made in front of you nice and fresh, today it was brought in from the kitchen and was so cold I had to manually turn up the heat on the burner and we let it sit for 10 minutes just to make it edible. Salads and main course were fine, but the same thing happened with the chocolate as with the cheese. For $500 after tip it was the worst experience I have had at any restaurant in my entire life. I've been to this melting pot more than a dozen times, but after this experience you will be very hard pressed to ever get...
