If you can go to another audio school do it or else only go here if you really have to.
For starters, there were no night classes available. This is extremely difficult for working adults who have to work past midnight then get up early to make it on time to class. Not to mention people with kids.
No studio access during the summer because the school couldnât afford it despite high tuition. These professors will not fail to help themselves to the studio if it means recording a band for money.
My professor Cami Stinson did nothing but literally speak about her experiences all semester long when we were supposed to be learning about copyright law. She didnât teach a thing then brought food and treats for her evaluation day. Also she made petty comments about people trying to look nice while coming to work with a bunch of eye shadow in casual attire. Is that really professional or appropriate?
I had another professor (Trepagnier)fail me then when I threatened to complain to the dean about his failure to help me. He then magically gave me a passing grade.
You really canât expect anyone to teach you here having paid thousands of dollars in tuition every year. Nearly everything learned was through speaking with students or self taught because my professor was obnoxiously rude, lazy, and unprofessional. I even addressed him about this in a respectful way and mocked me by apologizing for hurting my feelings đ
Also he embarrassed a student for being late He forced us to come to class on the last day just to watch a documentary that wasnât graded. His temper flares when the class didnât understand something that he didnât go over or wasnât very thorough about.
I lost a watch at school that should had been on camera but my room was not covered by cameras monitored by a secretary. She couldnât check who went in the room because the cameras were down.
Now if youâre younger and have time to study and are a can doer self teacher than this school will be perfect for you.
There are a few good people who are patient, fair, and compromising where needed. They tend to be the professors who you learn a lot from.
If youâre thinking of going with cheaper options cough recording connection do it. It will be much more worth it to work with a working professional one on one.
The great thing about ACM is the sense of community, being able to touch studio equipment youâve never seen, networking opportunities and being downtown.
The bad part is the loosely monitored faculty, fraternization of staff, the lack of studios, studio space, studio time, professors teaching subjects they donât have degrees in, lack of professionalism, lack of...
Read moreI was a student here from 2012-2016, graduating with a Bachelors of Applied Tech, during which time I was also a student worker. I was very engaged in class and behind the scenes and with all other students and faculty. I canât express how disappointed I was with the program- it was completely lackluster and very subpar. I donât feel like I learned very much at all, despite being a very active and engaged student. Most of the classes were either basic fundamentals with no option to test out and take higher level classes (which just didnât exist) and most courses felt like repetitive versions of previous level courses, with slight variations or focuses. When I expressed my discontent and disappointment to CEO Scott Booker his response was âwell didnât you learn something working here?â As if my employment at the school is equal to the $30+k I paid for an education. I couldnât believe my ears when I heard this response, and to me, it perfectly sums up what the school is all about. Because I was so disappointed with the Associates program, I contemplated changing majors before continuing on to the Bachelors program but I thought âsurely the bachelors program is more in-depthâ. It wasnât and a completely regret my decision to come to this school, not changing my major. This school was an enormous waste of my...
