I wish I could say that my husband and I were able to keep our reservation; however, unbeknownst to us it was canceled by the establishment. On January 20, I took the proactive approach and reserved a table for myself and my husband, the reservation was for the much anticipated Superbowl Sunday. We'll, it was decided by the owners that they will not honor the reservations, but cancel them and set a cover charge for entry. So, much to my amazement, I have been unable to procure another reservation from any establishment in Philadelphia, at least one who will be airing the game...Who would have thought others might have procured their spots weeks ago as well. However, I was assured that if I get there by 2:00, I would be able to get a table. We'll, my reservation was at 6:30. I don't feel like paying a cover and then proceeding to sit at a pub for 4 and a half hours before the start of the game to only sit an additional 4 hours watching it. Thank you but no thank you. It is very sad that you would not honor already made reservations. Why not black out that day in anticipation of the Eagles win so no one would be able to make them? Oh, because if you did, it would not have been economically feasible for you if they had lost. Or, perhaps you may have made it clear on your website that if the Eagles made it to the Superbowl then all reservations would be canceled and a door fee will be charged. Well I hope you and your...
Read moreGot off to a slow start here since we were underquoted on the wait time for a table on Friday night. There were 3 of us and we were told 25 minutes, ended up waiting at least 45 while watching many parties of 2 who came in after us get seated. It’s a tight space and hard to fit big groups I guess. The bar is full service if you can find a seat. While we waiting, we chatted with the hostess and learned a little about the history of the place. Once we were seated, the service was very timely. Water was brought out right after we ordered drinks and refilled when we needed it, beers weren’t far behind, and meals came out in a reasonable time. Their draft beer list is long and has a really good variety of different styles, strengths, Irish vs domestic beers. Easy to find something you’ll like. I ordered a Breckenridge “Christmas ale”, which I loved - it was like a dark ale flavoured like a stout or porter. I had the blackened salmon to eat. I loved the vodka sauce that the salmon was dressed with and the sides of asparagus and bell pepper rice were great complements. It was a good-sized cut of salmon. The prices are reasonable across the board. Again, it’s tight, and because it was busy, that meant people were really packed in the bar area, and it was loud, but the noise level wasn’t so bad near our table. It did occasionally get drafty by the door though. It’s a cool building and has the classic...
Read moreI've come here a lot, but recently had an awful experience. I'm an Army Vet, I like to come here to drink around all the cool photos of prior and current service members, but the patrons and the staff can be a nuance, given the location of the bar. I've been called racist names in here, in generally in the area, but I just drive on. Last night, two guys decided to attack me, after an waitress removed a guy from near me as I was trying to reuse the ATM inside and see why it is my bank was accounting that I had withdrew $200 when it had initially said that I couldn't.
Long story short, I didn't fight back. Not down there to fight, I grappled my way out of there aubtil it stopped. I won't ever go back. The only incentive was literally pictures of prior service members and other military photos.
I used to tote it as the best bar in Philadelphia, but now, now I'll never go back. Too much drama, and it's in the gay neighborhood, which I guess is ultimately another reason for this.
Not all soldiers like fighting Americans on the street. As a matter of fact, none of us like fighting Americans on the street. Another veteran called the cops, but, that is that.
I'll never step foot back into that...
