I work in the transportation business and times I get calls in Philly and when I do I always go for a cheesesteak, I saw this place and decided to try it. As soon as I got my sandwich I regretted it. It was just a weird tasting sandwich with no seasoning. I got excited when I order it but just the feel of it and how light it was I knew i was going to be disappointed. Only good thing about it was the bread cause it was soft. The cheesesteak and a drink was 19$!!!!! That is absurd & way overpriced for the worst cheesesteak I’ve had in Philly. I’ve had such good cheesesteaks from Philly and it was cheaper this place And they used a cheese that just didn’t go well with the sandwich. Atmosphere was alright just SUPER HOT in there. It’s not a place u want to dine in. And service had me waiting 20 minutes for the sandwich. Only reason I give it a 2 star was is cause the pizza LOOKED good. Only looked thoe cause I didn’t taste it and most likely never will cause I’ll never return to this spot. & anyone looking for a good cheesesteak spot I would HIGHLY recommend looking somewhere else for it cause you won’t get one here. Way better spots nearby, even from a guy with cart. Which is crazy. waste of 19$. Will...
Read morePretty decent - it's what you expect when you think New York Pizza.
The location of this place is clutch. There is lots of foot traffic, and it's a great spot to hit up for lunch if you're in the city. Though it looked busy, I didn't experience too long of a wait.
The pizza slices are foldable, and fairly large. There are plenty of options for toppings, and the crust is savory without being tough or stale tasting.
The menu is pretty vast, including not only pizza by the slice and pie, but also hot and cold sandwiches, cheese steaks (a Philly staple), salads, stombolis, pastas, and sides (the likes of french fries, onion rings, etc.)
I ordered a slice of their broccoli white pizza. The cheese was decent, but the broccoli felt a little too raw, I think a bit of seasoning and steaming it prior to using it as a topping would enhance the taste.
The pricing is a bit more than I would like to pay for a slice of pizza (it'll run you between $3-$4 depending on what you order). Overall the service was quick and seamless, and the employees were great with taking down the order and keeping the line moving. Would come back here, more on a whim than a planned trip, but nevertheless I appreciate that this...
Read moreIn my opinion, there is no pizza like authentic NYC pizza. However the pizza at NYPD Pizza is as close as I've tasted anywhere outside of NY. One look tells you that the owner is obviously Italian. I can only assume that he must have developed his pizza making skills in NY. The interior of the shop is filled with pictures and miscellaneous mementos from NY, including posters and plaques for the NY Yankees. The pizza is built on a thin crispy crust which is neither too soft nor burnt. It is topped with the right amount of properly seasoned sauce and the proper quantity of mozzarella cheese. Too many pizzerias smother their pizza with too much cheese (yes that is possible) but not here. Toppings of all types are available but not needed. Good pizza can stand on its own. The only negative is that sometimes the quality of the pizza is a bit below these high standards. I can tell right away when it's not quite right. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it is a real disappointment. On these days it is just average Philadelphia pizza. The garlic knots are also quite good. Not too much garlic and...
