I went for dinner with my husband on a monday. The atmosphere is delightful, especially this time of year (December). It immediately reminded me of the London pubs I grew up with and was very cosy. The wine was excellent and the service attentive. The food however was disappointing. Our starter of the Pabbit rillettes was an initial highlight, particularly with the delicious carrot and spice coulis. Both mains however were dissapointing. I ordered the orichiette which, for a $27 vegetarian dish advertised as a "large plate", was an unforgivably measly portion. In addition, it was oversalted and underseaoned, resulting in a bland and unsatisfying experience. My husband ordered the fish and chips, with a small plate that was 1/3 fries, 1/3 fish, and 1/3 coleslaw (again for $27). The fries were ribbons fries, and chewy rather than crispy. Not the large chips one normally expects with fish and chips. My husband found the sweetness of the batter off putting. All in all, it somehow feels as though the owners of this place love the atmosphere of a british pub, but not the menu. The menu they have instead is underwhelming and very overpriced for what it is. We will probably return, but only for drinks...
Read moreWe had a pretty nice table server, he smiled and said yes to every request of ours. Food was flavorful and well prepared. But the loud music blasting from the speakers made it impossible to carry a conversation, even when we sat next to each other to be closer. This is not a night club, there is no dance floor, all the guests came with company to do two three things: drink, maybe eat and for sure chat. Why make it so hard for the third thing? Music can be very critical in setting the right tone and vibe for the night, it messages those who enter whether this is a serious place, a fun place, an easy place, whatever. So what are you trying to be? The place where people who are in conversation are forced to scream into each other’s ears??? Keep the music, lower the volume, our throats will thank you the next day and our ears will thank you when we get old and can still hear our...
Read moreMade an outdoor dinner reservation for 7 pm on a Friday and received a text confirmation. At 6:45 pm it started raining. My wife called over to ask if we could transfer our reservation indoors and was told no, but that they’d seat us under the umbrellas outside. Satisfied with that, we walked over in the rain and upon check-in were turned away at the door and told that no one was being seated outside due to the weather. This was less than ten minutes after we called, confirmed our reservation, and were told to “come on over.” Given their sudden change of heart about seating people outside, my wife asked again if they could accommodate us indoors since we’d walked over in reliance on their word that we’d be seated. She was told there was no room. Not sure what kind of badly organized restaurant does this. Thanks Pub and Kitchen for leaving us high and dry! Will not...
