I met an friend here for dinner and at first it was a little awkward. When I walked in, they completely ignored me, so I decided maybe it was seat yourself, I took a table for 4 (because it was not busy and there were plenty of open tables) and waited for my friend. When he arrived and sat with me, they asked us to move to a tiny table for 2, which was fine, but there was a lot of confusion and they could have just seated me when I walked in if it was going to be an issue. We had to wait a couple more minutes before getting menus.
The menu is solid, if not eclectic. This place is what I would call Vietnamese Creole Fusion, if that's a thing (it is now!). There are some comfort food takes on traditional Vietnamese favorites like Banh Mi and rice and noodle dishes, and there is a whole section of the menu devoted to seafood, almost entirely shellfish of various varieties. I'm a vegetarian and there were still a couple of good options, though everything they they make with tofu is deep fried, but it was tasty.
I'm not sure if I'll go back, it was an experience and the food was good, but it's not the kind of thing I need to repeat, unless I want to take someone else there for...
Read moreLiterally one of my favorites in Philly, Bistro Southeast never disappoints! I have eaten here too many times to not have written a review yet. The food is always flavorful, fresh, and hot. What I like most is that it is always consistent and the portions are sizable. The crab fried rice is my favorite item on their menu but everything I’ve tried has been amazing. The wings are crispy and well seasoned, the salads are refreshing and feeling, the mango sticky rice is the perfect balance of sweet and savory…I’ve tried other dishes as well, just too many to list haha! In addition to the food, the service is great. The staff is always so friendly, they play apart in how frequently I eat there as well. I don’t have any pictures of my food because when I remember to take them my food is...
Read moreMy husband and I are foodies. Especially me. I love to eat and diet. We went to this place. Cause were tired of the same places. I was a little skeptical. I ordered sweet and spicy chicken. Which I never do. The chicken was yummy. It was fried to perfection. Even the cucumbers were good. They had a great presentation. We also ordered a fish po' boy. It was very light. I felt like I was still hungry after eating that sandwich. However it was good. We also had shrimp in the blanket which is shrimp rolls. Reminded me of my favorite Thai place. So to sum it up. You cannot go wrong. Price was just right. Service was excellent. I will be going back to try the seafood steam bags. I gave them 4 stars. I did not get a chance to try more items on the menu. I will...
