We’ve just lost cabin pressure, folks. My husband and I tried Carry On tonight, and we’re unfortunately not impressed. While the concept is very cool, it’s unfortunately very gimmicky. You wait in line to “board”, we had “first class” tickets and were taken to one of those long half booth table things, which is fine, except the table is a small pedestal table with not much room, and the booth side is much higher than the side of the table with a very low chair. It’s very loud inside, so I had to lean all the way over the chair to talk to my husband. The small bites were tasty, but SMALL. Like literally 2-3 bites and each item is gone. You keep your fork and are not offered a knife even though some items need to be cut, and you eat dessert with a fork you just ate steak with. In a nicer restaurant you’d get fresh silverware. My big problem though, was this is primarily a bar, and the drinks were TERRIBLE. I got an old fashioned. Theirs featured browned butter, Sage, balsamic vinegar, and “saline”. I thought this was weird but I I figured they knew what they were doing. They didn’t. It was undrinkable. We switched to a traditional old fashioned which was also not amazing, but better than the first. They can’t make any off menu drinks, even a French 75 which they had all of the ingredients for based on their other cocktails, but refused to make. The whole thing is timed, scheduled, and regimented, making more of an experience than a nice relaxing cocktail hour. But the experience plays off as cheap and fake. The images played through the “airplane” windows are poor CGI like a 90’s quality video game. Why not play real videos of a plane flying through clouds and landing somewhere?? Why the fake CGI that’s pixelated? It cheapens the whole thing. Their whole goal is to turn and burn tables in your 90 minute seating, so there’s no interacting with waitresses or staff, ours didn’t even look at us. Just passed drinks and food without looking up. And it’s LOUD. It’s a teeny tiny space packed with people and the sound is unbelievable. Glad we tried it. Wouldn’t...
Read moreLast night, my friends and I had the privilege of checking out the brand-new Carry On Airlines, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we booked our tickets online last week to picking them up at Wren & Wolf, the excitement was building. Boarding started just ten minutes before our scheduled departure, and once we were seated, we were immediately immersed in the magic of the 1970s Boeing 747 first-class lounge.
The experience kicked off with a delicious pre-flight cocktail, setting the tone for the next 90 minutes of pure fun. The flight attendants were incredibly welcoming, and the pilots had us laughing with their witty banter throughout the experience.
As for the drinks, wow! The cocktails were top-notch, and I highly recommend trying The Woody – it’s a real treat. But the highlight for me was the Martini Cart that came mid-flight, adding an extra touch of glamour to the whole experience.
The true star of Carry On Airlines, however, is the ambiance. They’ve truly nailed the vibe of the 1970s first-class cabin, and you can’t help but feel like you’ve stepped into a vintage airline experience without ever leaving Phoenix. The attention to detail in every corner of the space – from the sleek bar to the plush seating – made the whole event feel effortlessly chic and nostalgic.
For an added bit of fun, make sure you pick up the phone and have a chat with the Captain!
If you're looking for a unique night out with friends, Carry On Airlines is a must! It’s a perfect blend of exceptional service, fantastic drinks, and an unforgettable atmosphere that will transport you straight to a retro jet-setting adventure. Can’t wait for my...

What truly sets Carry On apart is their exceptional non-alcoholic drink selection. As someone who often skips the booze, I was thrilled to find a creative, thoughtful, and genuinely delicious range of zero-proof cocktails. Each drink felt just as special and complex as its spirited counterpart—refreshing, nuanced, and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find a place that gives this much love to the non-alcoholic menu, and I was beyond impressed.
We went for the Captain’s Club package, and it was worth every penny. From start to finish, the service was impeccable, and the food? Next level. Each course felt like a curated adventure—elevated, flavor-packed, and plated with intention. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste left us blown away. It felt indulgent yet unpretentious—a true celebration of culinary craft.
Carry On strikes a perfect balance between refined and relaxed, and whether you’re abstaining from alcohol or simply looking for something new, this spot delivers an experience you won’t forget. Highly recommend joining the Captain’s Club for...
