I was extremely excited to visit this location for a number of reasons: the ambience, the entertainment options (big fan of pinball), and the drinks. I was moderately satisfied. The arcade machines all are equipped with a credit machine rather than old school coins. Cards contain these credits similar to Dave&Busters. There’s only one machine in the entire place to fill/refill your card. At the time I was there, it seems like the credit reloader wasn’t working properly, meaning people who wanted to play could not until it was fixed. Fortunately I was able to get some credits before this occurred. There’s a great variety of alcohol on tap from beers, twisted tea, and even Truly seltzers in addition to cocktails. The staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly; hustling around making sure your drink was never empty and providing drink recommendations. There’s one glaring issue that really disappointed me about Shorty’s: the food. The options are limited to essentially 3 things: chips/dips, taco’s, and salads. The portions are PATHETICALLY small for someone wanting to soak up some alcohol with a decent bite. The Al pastor taco’s were decent but again, unacceptably tiny for the price of $8 for 2 tacos. There was a private event in one of the arcade areas and found myself tantalized/jealous by their vegetable tray, meat tray, and self-serve taco’s while I sat there starving/buzzed with 2.5 drinks down. I was so hungry when I left that I went across the street to get food. We were also double-charged across multiple checks for some items. All in all, this location will be a great hangout spot especially in summer when the garage windows can open, but the menu needs reevaluated as time goes on. I’d recommend eating...
Read moreHonestly a really horrible experience. The bowling was so overpriced to begin with, $120 for 6 people to play and you only get 1 hour. Then as we were playing the machine kept getting jammed, to the point where every time you rolled the ball it would get stuck and we’d have to wait for someone to come fix it. They had one person working both the front booth and also running around fixing machines, so there were times when we were waiting 5+ minutes just to be able to continue to play. We would’ve been more understanding had it not been so expensive and with such limited time. We also were told there would be a waitress coming around to take our orders, but after 20 minutes we had to go and ask someone about her because she never came around. Finally 30 minutes in we were able to get our orders in. Mind you it wasn’t busy at all, it was only us and one other group bowling. We were probably only able to play for 30 minutes in the one hour we were given, so we spoke to our waitress about the situation, just trying to see if we could get more time to play, and we received a shrug and an “I’m sorry” with no resolution.
All the other games are pay to play, so you really can’t have fun here without spending an exorbitant amount of money.
With that being said we ordered their fried Oreos and the churro fries and they...
Read moreTwo Pittsburgh Locations- one in the Waterfront and one in the North Shore. I checked out the one in the North Shore. They have indoor and outdoors seating. The outdoors seating has fire pits which make it super fun and cozy. They’ve got a full bar as well as tons of tables…great spot for groups! They have games like pinball, shuffleboard, fuse ball and lanes for duck pin bowling. The food and drink selections are great. I had the Rock Me Baby for my drink- it is vanilla vodka, passion fruit syrup, lime juice and perfect bubbly prosecco! It is served in a coop glass with the cutest little rubber duck! They recently got a new food menu that is so good! I tried the pizza box nachos which are perfect for sharing. It is house made corn tortilla chips, chili cheese sauce, pickled jalapenos, Pico de Gallo and sour cream! It is the perfect appetizer and the fact it comes in a pizza box makes it so fun! Tried the cheesesteak Sammie, which was shaved ribeye, charred peppers & onions, cheese sauce on a hoagie roll, this comes with beer battered fries. The meat on this sandwich was so flavorful! Can’t skip dessert- tried their tempura fried Oreos which are fried Oreos tossed in powdered sugar and serve with a chocolate sauce. This totally...
