Three of us ate there and it was delicious. Two slices pizza, the veggie sandwich, and the vegan sandwich. The vegan liked his so much he bought another one to go. I had the veggie and highly enjoyed every bite. For starters, the sandwiches are quite large. The focaccia is the best I've had in Portland, incredibly fresh and flavorful but not oily as some versions are. It is May and I was leery of ordering fresh tomatoes but these were like September tomatoes: bright red, great texture, and pure ripe-tomato flavor. The parsley sauce was just right. The fillings overflowed the bread. I am a small eater and look forward to eating the other half in a few hours. The atmosphere is spartan, with a very few tables and bistro chairs plus a counter facing the lively NW 23rd street scene, but the ambience suits the casual vibe. The owner clearly wants to excel at a few things rather than offer more than he might be able to handle....

With so many options to eat around the 23rd area, I hope Angolo is here to stay. Stopped by the other day and was warmly welcomed by Dom. He was awesome to chat with. Gave me the rundown of the place. Explained that the owners are actually from Italy and are working through their homemade recepies. Everything looked amazing, but I waited for a fresh Bosco that was coming out of the oven. I also tried a Tortano, which was like heaven in your mouth. The focaccia was delicious. You could tell it was homemade. Fresh pizza was the way to go. Worth the wait. The place itself is a bit small and not much room to sit and enjoy your meal but if you're just there for the pizza you're in luck! Can't wait to try more...

Really delicious new addition to 23rd. Usually order when taking a seat and beer in at Function. The service is amazing- Food was delivered at Function, I thought my order was wrong, but the mistake was mine, and was all good with my two slices of pizza. Without hesitation, the runner asked “what did you mean to get instead of the extra slice?” I told him a Tortano and he said “no problem, I’ll bring one for you, keep the extra slice”. Super nice gesture! First visit there I went in to ask for some marinara and they ended up recommending all sorts of extra to go cups of seasoning and sides on the house. Good people there that really understand the service experience and...

I hoped this would have been better, sadly it disappointed on just about all fronts. We got there at 12:30 (posted opening hours are 11:30), and the closed sign was on the door so we asked what time they’d be opening. He said in a few minutes they are still doing prep. Things happen, I get it, we waited. The place is tiny, more of a to-go/pick-up spot than dine-in but it’s very clean and cute with a small table out front. The pizza was alright, not much flavor in the dough, and the cheeses were just not providing any depth to the meal. They’re flatbread style pizza squares. Easy spot to grab a bite for lunch or dinner if in a rush.

Picked up pizzas for dinner tonight. I can’t remember the name, but the one with zucchini and ham is so amazing. My husband really enjoyed it. Got two pepperoni for the kids. The focaccia crust is very different than the thin crust pizza which is popular around town. And different than wood fired. The pizza all around feels very light and airy. The tomato sauce is a showstopper. I could just eat it by the spoonful. It’s so light and delicious and fresh. Super nice service and quick service. Limited seats. Would be great to eat outdoors.
