I want to just say this place gets 5 stars for food, service/friendliness, speed of delivery, cleanliness, and options. Really, these guys are amongst the top of places I like to go.
BUT, they have a flaw that just doesn't seem to get addressed, that is pretty critical: They get orders wrong way more than most places should. I'm Vegan (I know!) and they've given me the wrong order (with dairy) over and over and over again, even when the receipt itself says it right. This isn't rocket science. Seems like a training issue for their chefs in the back. And trust me, it's not one off, we're talking every 3-4 times I come in. I now check each order meticulously. (Shouldn't have to do that!) They know me so well as the guy that checks. Maybe I'm a shadow eater? Nah. I just want my food made right. It's why I eat out for food, and don't make it myself. :)
But I let it go each time, because they really do mean well, and the food is fast and delicious and healthy and their attitude is great. My suggestion is to call ahead to pick up your order, because the line at lunch can take 10-15 minutes at times. The to-go line is very fast and the only way I order...
Read moreWho doesn't love Yumm! Sauce?! Been addicted to this place ever since they opened and even buy the sauce to take home and make my own bowls.
Love that most things can be made vegan without having to jump through hoops or worry about contamination; though on a few occasions, I have gotten toppings I declined, but they made me a new bowl promptly.
Super cheap food, it is rice and beans after all, but so used to spending $10-15 for a meal that $7 or $8 for a bowl seems crazy cheap. Love the tofu and tempeh options too - thanks!
It looks like most of the 1 star reviews are about the sauce. It's a yeast based sauce, if you've never had this before, you might want to try it first. Yeast is super high in fiber and protein and is an umami flavor profile; it offers a creamy, nutty, or cheasy essence to it. It's mixed with oil and some flavors for the sauce. Most people either love it or hate it.
Pro Tip: You can ask for half sauce on your bowl to lower the amount and your...
Read moreA little pricey for my sensibilities. Yes, the food is fresh, lively, interesting and delicious. The portions to price ratio are just a little on the expensive side. I tried the Moroccan Zucchini because I love curry and they promised something mild (I love spice but my stomach can't tolerate anything beyond mild). It was a very satisfying blend of meaty black beans, chunky tomatoes, chewy whole grain rice, luxuriously cool avocado and a generous helping of their Yumm! Sauce with just a hint of curry. After eating it, though, I was actually still hungry. The very best part of my meal, though, was the lentil soup. Wow. Just, wow. Slightly smokey with lots of meaty flavor and the lentils were tender and so very good. My daughters have eaten here several times and when I mentioned that the girl at the counter was probably having a bad day their simultaneous response was, "Oh, they're always like that." Hmm, maybe they have a little TOO much fiber in their diets....
