The atmosphere is escapism from the hustle and bustle of inner Portland: Lloyd District. The employees are very friendly and funny: in a very Chinese kinda' way ;-) There is a local bar scene off to the left, to the right is maybe 10 booths, and behind that there are 2 banquet rooms. The food is generally good, the prices fair under the circumstances (2025), the atmosphere is perfect 100% Chinese. Reminds me of some of the off alley restaurants I eat at while in China for 1 year: Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, Weihai, ect. But only a few people here (all take-out orders)...so I miss the NOISE....and the CROWD.....of China....other then those 2 things....I love this place. Oh, and the outside could use a bit of paint and a pot-hole or two filled in the parking lot. But for me, it's what's inside.

Fast, efficient service: the water and the menu were at my table a second after I sat. The waitress brought the tea and the soup quickly. The chow fun was tasty and filling with a good ratio of noodles, vegetables, and chicken. The waitress checked in with the customers a few times during my meal, and handled the check and payment with the same professional efficiency. Back again Jan 3 2025 - this time I had the twin kung pao special (chicken and shrimp) served with egg flower soup, spring roll, and a little metal cup of very hot Chinese mustard. All very tasty.

CHEAP CHINESE CONSISTENTLY DECENT This place is so seedy and kinda gross. If you’re down for dirty dining and like a place with a parking lot, then this is your spot. Food is cooked fresh and some it is homemade. Their potstickers are my favorite item on the menu. FYI- They do not have birdsnests as listed on the menu.

The really sad thing for me is. I went there at 1130 just to grab a bite to eat. I had to wait about 3 minutes for someone to come out and assist me. And when they did, they came out. They were extremely rude when I sat down and got a glass of water. I asked for lemon and a straw. The girl brought it to me with a straw. The tip that I put in my mouth in her fingers and the lemon wedge in the Palm of her hand not on a napkin or anything. When I received my order. She did not check to see how my food was. But the customer's next to me. She checked on 2 or 3 times. I had to practically yell at her to get her to bring me a box. Excuse me, ma'am, excuse me. 2 or 3 times before she would even bring me a box. She wasn't even around for me to pay her when it was time to go. The customer service was horrible, the food was pretty. OK not sure I'll...

This restaurant is amazing, wow. Nice, classic Chinese layout. Smells like a nice little hangout for drunks too (there is a bar).

I had the General Tso's chicken, drenched in spicy sauce when I visited here. It was amazing, I could taste it despite how spicy it was. Probably some of the best Chinese food I have ever tasted.

Service is amazing. Sue is the sweetest lady I have ever had serve me at any restaurant, and made sure we had plenty of drinks too.

Portions were big, but maybe not worth the price (their food is a little spendy, despite the bar, but that's about the only downside to this restaurant). My friend had the duck, and even half a duck is really big. Their food is popular for good reason, as other people have noted, there were quite a few Grubhub drivers in particular who came into Chen's. Try stopping in here, it'll...

Weve gone here religiously well over 15 years. Recently their prices went WAY up for quite simply average run of the mill chinese food. The flavor is bland and portions very small compared to 6 or 7 months ago a swell. Plain kung pao now costs same as high end thai dishes at very nice restaurants? From 12.95 to 16 dollars? Charge more, get and taste less?? Corn starch thickened bland hot and sour soup is as much as made on the spot Tom Kha at a nice thai place? You have priced yourself out of any reasonable consumer's budget. 2 plain entrees and 2 soups should not cost almost 60 dollars Ridiculous. It's been fun but we will have fresh made high end thai food from now on for your prices of chinese food indistinguishable from any other cheap chinese restaurant. Maybe once a year on Xmas. We were weekly diners...
