Get here now! Update 8-7-17: So my first visit to this place was memorable as you can tell by the above review. On my second visit about a month ago 5 of us showed up at 2:15 and were told we would have to get it to go as they were getting ready to close!?! The posted hours say 3PM! We had to ask if we could sit out front at their tables and they said yes but not to leave any trash! Ok so maybe it was a slow day and they had some pressing matter they had to attend to. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. Well this past Saturday August 5, 2017 a group of 10 of us (yes TEN people) decided to go here for some of that kick-ass ramen that they serve. We arrived at about 1:45 and to my utter AMAZEMENT they had a sign on the door reading "closed because of heat, TAKE OUT ONLY" WHAT?!? It was in the 80's Saturday, and have you heard of a fan? You know, the thing that moves the air around and COOLS you off? Needless to say we walked a block to mandarin cove and had a great time.

Anyhow, if you like their food I would recommend heading over as soon as possible. I have been in the restaurant business for a while and I can tell you this place won't be around much longer if they keep turning people away like this. I, and the ten people I brought out on Saturday, will...

The bottom line is that this is NOT a good ramen! When I was first planning my visit to Portland I was excited to see there is a highly ranked ramen place just near my hotel. I never been to Japan, but I love ramen, specially the Tonkotsu variant, and every where I go I checkout the recommendations. In this case I tried the "Chef's special ", and what I got was a nearly tasteless broth, with cheaply tasting instant noodles, very dry pork, badly tasting bamboo shots and chopped pickled ginger with strange aftertaste. On the somewhat bright side the vegetables seem to be very fresh, and the 'ajitsuke tamago' (the ramen egg) tasted good and properly. I left with great disappointment leaving behind a nearly full bowl and most of the Edamame that they managed to overcook. Objectively I could give this place 3 stars ( I mean, the ingredients were there, and they obviously tried), but the current high rank is unjustified and can cause a lot of disappointment to ramen enthusiasts as myself :(. Edit: forgot to mention that the price...

"This evening was horrifying. Imagine starting to eat your food and finding a staple in it. The worst part is the lack of concern that the staff, management and owners had. Who cares about a refund? Sorry doesn't make the mark. If I did swallow the staple the company would be liable for consequences. Furthermore, the person that prepared the food should be held accountable for the lack of quality control. When I spoke with the manager at the Beaverton location his response was you got to get the refund from Ghrubhub. well, yes, following the sequence of the transaction of course that would suffice. What is problematic is the lack of concern that he and the owners had. No questions were asked regarding how I felt about the mishap. I would never suggest ordering food from a place where money has more value than your humanity. " The customer service is horrendous and the employees are devoid of comprehensible problem...

No idea how the reviews for this place are not worse. The broth was bad, the noodles were bad, the meat taste like dried up deli meat they bought from the store was also bad , my “light ice” tea had extra ice in it, and the price did not match the menu. Be very aware that they might overcharge you on things and then argue that that was the old price but because it’s now a special it’s a dollar more. But that’s not mentioned anywhere and they’re special just has the title without a price. Noticing my pictures how it clearly says that Thai tea is $3.75 and in my zoomed out picture, there is a print out that says “special” Thai tea without a price that apparently is now more expensive just cause they added the word “special” to it and it was one of the flavorless Thai teas I ever had, and one of the worst Ramen I ever had. What this restaurant is doing is illegal and should be ashamed of themselves

Very enjoyable prices were fairly average I had the chef choice (I believe) ramen it was great other than the super dry meat cuts, the squid rings were devinely soft and tender and outside perfectly crispy no soggy breading and thank goodness the dipping sauce for it wasn't over glorified ketchup it was a nice all be it sweet tangy sauce that paired well with said squid rings. The Japanese beers on draft were both very nice smooth and very light as is characteristic of what you'd think of a Japanese beer. The chocolate mochi was also nice though Abit too cold to enjoy the flavors only really shined through holding it to warm in your mouth. But over all very nice place

This ramen was SO delicious my husband and I ate here twice during our honeymoon in Portland. I personally couldn't get enough of the broths. I was so stuffed after leaving both times. Service was curt and quick in this neat little ramen shop, but we didn't mind. The food came out just as fast which was perfect after a long day of walking around. If ramen is something you are a fan of eating- you have to stop here! There's quite the variety of ramen bowls and customization options too. If this restaurant was in my town, I would be eating here at least once a week.
