I only left 1 star because I had to!! I didn't even get to the food because the service at the door was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Whoever was working at the door on Friday April 21, 2023 around 11:30 p.m. needs to be in the back somewhere away from customers!! I came here because it was across the street from my hotel. From the time we walked in the door EVERYTHING about him was AWFUL. Down to the no greeting. I asked if they were still serving food. He looked at me as if I was speaking another language and mumbled something. Sounded like he said they were closed right now. I asked if that was what he said. Never got a straight answer. Then he said something about standing room only. I asked if you could order food at the bar. He hesitated, then pointed to the corner and said, "Your best bet is to go over there and order take out and take it away. " If I wanted take out I would have ordered take out being that when you walk in the sign is clear as day. Meanwhile, three Caucasian males walk in and he's glad to serve them and let them know they could go over to the bar and order drinks as soon as they walk in and ask. I then asked for three menu's. He says sure let me get them. He walked away to get them. However, when he returned he handed them to a Caucasian women who appeared. Looked at us if we weren't still standing there waiting. Pretty much ignored us never brought the menus. At that point I was disgusted and ready to go. I knew I wasn't spending my money in this establishment. However, I stood there for a few more minutes to see what he was going to do. He didn't acknowledge us anymore while we stood there. One thing I don't do is spend my hard earned money in an establishment that doesn't provide me with good service nor make me feel welcome!! As a Customer Service Supervisor, the worst thing you can do is give me service this HORRIBLE!!! I along with my friends felt TOTALLY UNWELCOME!!! I would NEVER come here again. I won't look twice at this place if I'm ever in...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went here while on vacation. It was our first night in Providence and we weren't really sure what to expect. I ordered the french dip sandwich with a moscow mule, and my boyfriend had the chicken and gravy sandwich. I let our server know about my nut allergy and he made me feel very comfortable with my order and assured me the items were nut free. While we waited for our food we enjoyed the throwback music (and music videos) and people watching. Once our food arrived, we were both pleasantly surprised. I'm a picky person, and I was amazed at how GOOD my sandwich was. It was huge, but I didn't want to stop eating. I was also really impressed that all of their meats are locally sourced (bonus points for that). My boyfriend loved his too. I honestly really wish I was close to this restaurant- I would go there all of the time. If we are ever back in Providence, we are definitely going back. Also wanted to note that they do have a very small deli with pre-made sandwiches inside for...
Read moreArrived in Providence on a Tuesday afternoon in anticipation of the P!nk concert! Wanted to find a nice, reasonably priced place to sit and enjoy a meal and drink with 3 friends after a long day of travelling. Looked to trip advisor for advice and found “Murphy’s Providence”. Thought we’d give it a try and walked the five minute journey from our hotel. What a FANTASTIC place! Previous Trip Advisor reviewers had commented on the friendliness of the staff…so true! Our bartender was Patrick (aka Twiggy) and our server was Candiss! We had so much fun - drinks and food were great as were the personalities and service of the staff! Our meals included fish and chips, Caesar wrap and curly fries, and a chicken sandwich. Twiggy went above and beyond to make a requested drink, one by the way he had never heard of in his 40+ of bartending! This experience was a highlight of our trip! Thank you Twiggy...
