It is unfortunate that I have to leave a review like this, but I have to be honest and accurate. Our table was left very dissatisfied with our meal and experience at Viva Mexico. A server (not ours) dropped a serving of salsa on the floor that splashed all over myself, my wife, and my son. There was no apology or concern until my wife had to request for some club soda to treat the stains. It is not the spill that is the issue, but rather the actions that ensued afterwards. Please explain what could justify our server automatically adding gratuity (20% on a $150 bill) on a party of 4? Is that something that is not listed on the menu along with the $18 price tag for margaritas? I understand automatic gratuities added for larger parties, but for a party of 4 that had salsa spilled on them with no apology or attempt to rectify the situation by the staff? Help me make sense of it. Please check your cameras from this evening and you will see for yourself (in the corner by the tv). Please do your restaurant this favor, improve your service, improve the food, and do not add gratuities of 20% to parties of 4 who have below average dining experiences in your restaurant. Parties of 4 or more, you've been warned.

P.S. your menu states gratuities will be added to parties of 7 or more. I thought it was rather bold.for the server to add gratuity automatically. On the other hand, they may have known our experience wasn't great and wanted to ensure part of our money was spent going to their pockets instead of going towards having a positive...

Easily the worst restaurant experience my girlfriend and I ever had. Typically Mexican restaurants have a warm welcoming and treat you like family right? This place was the exact opposite. Took literally 45 minutes to get our drinks, (we were halfway done eating our entrees when we got them) and they were the most pathetic looking margaritas I’ve ever seen. Literally half the glasses were empty. You’d think after such a long wait we’d at least get a decent pour right, nope. Before either of us took a sip we told the waitress to send them back and have the bartender fill them up. Instead of doing that he dumped them. No drinks for us. Waitress also never gave us utensils or napkins, a little messy eating tacos with no napkins don’t you think. I also had to waive down a bus boy to fill up our little water glasses. Seems like once the waitress realized we weren’t happy she completely avoided us. She sent the ‘manager’ over to us to see what was wrong. All she said was that they were ‘very busy’. This place nearly ruined our nicely planned night out in providence, but we tried our best not to let it. Worst service we’ve ever had. We left disgusted at how we were treated here at viva Mexico. Shout out to the cooks, no complaints about the tacos. But the service was terrible. STAY AWAY...

1-First of all they don't have parking space available. And before you get into their door you already spend $20 on parking. 2- took a long time to get the drinks and food on a very slow day that's ridiculous 3- not enough silverware for all of us or plates 4- they knew about us coming ahead of time and they where not prepared at all 5- all our food was Ice cold ❄️❄️❄️🥶 I sent mine food back twice and finally gave up and eat it cold . 6- Restroom was filthy both men and women I ask my wife they where smelly and disgusting to the point I almost puke 🤮 7- way to expensive for the poor quality of the tasteless food they have the Mexican truck food on broad street makes this place look really bad. 8- Shame on me because I read the reviews and I knew some of the thing I'm saying and still gave them the benefit of the doubt. Bottom Line is not worth it they make Mexican culture look bad . 9- with a bill of over $400 there was no management around to solve any issues not to mention on that when I walked by the kitchen and saw all the cooks not wearing hats,...

Utterly disappointing. As others mention there are no chips and salsa included with any order. The smallest order is chips, salsa, and beans for $9. I decided to pass on the chips and salsa. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it was delivered rather quickly. It should have been labeled as a rice and beans chimichanga with 1 ounce of chicken. The flavors were ok but the fact the chicken was almost non existent was a disappointment. The fact the owner replied to another review they do not offer free chips and salsa due to the awesome location downtown told me more than enough about the owner. Customers don’t care about your overhead expenses. Provide great food and service and you won’t worry about your overhead either. Rant over.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. My husband and I made a point to order something that we had never had or seen at any other Mexican restaurant--huarache. It was well explained by our knowledgable server, and it was flavorful and fresh. The menu gave several less conventional meat options like goat, tripe, and tongue. We stayed with shredded pork and chorizo which were spicy but tasty. They offered red and green salsas that were housemade along with their tortillas. Even the refried beans and rice sides were delicious--definitely not an afterthought like at some restaurants. The decor was colorful and festive; although, it seemed a little dark back toward the bar. Highly recommend if you like good, fresh Mexican food.
