FAIL. We made a reservation for their Valentine's Day night. • They said they have valet service. When we got there 10 min before our reservation the valet said the valet service was over but if we slipped him an extra $10 he'd still do it • Said they were running 20 minutes late and we could wait at the bar. We asked the bartender for one martini for the two of us to split while we waited (I didn't want to drink too much t/o the night to be too tipsy when we drove back). They said, 'I'm gonna make you two,' and made us two small ones. We thought they were just being nice and split one into two glasses. When we got the bill it was for two full martinis • After 25 min the hostess comes over and says there are still no tables in the main room, she'll seat us to eat dinner at the bar (near the TVs). We're like -- what, no; we didn't make reservations to sit at the bar; we'll wait. It took another 40 minutes to get seated in the dining room • The servers were really rushed and tired. Our 'main server' -- the one who came more often -- was really good tho. Probably the best aspect of the night (other than us making the best of everything) • They served the appetizer at the same time as the mains (surf & turf, and ribeye steak). They didn't bring steak knives; we had to start the steak with butter knives & wait 10 min for someone to bring some, at which point it was kind of moot • The wine glasses were a bit dirty with dishwasher sud marks • They doubled their prices for everything on this night. The Surf & Turf was $65 and the Ribeye $60. However, the former had almost no 'turf' -- like a tiny piece of lukewarm lobster. The steaks weren't prepared well, and the meat didn't seem to be of high quality. Instead of the ribeye, they brought the less expensive filet mignon (which I ate b/c didn't want to wait for the plate to be redone), but they charged us for the ribeye (which I only realized after leaving the restaurant) All in all. . . big FAIL. Though we still made the best of it and had a pleasant time amongst ourselves. Even if the place is somewhat better during a non-holiday night, definitely will never go back. If they're doing this sort of holiday special and charging these high prices, they should make sure to maintain high standards. This felt a little like...

From the moment we stepped into The George, we knew we were in for a treat. The host at the front desk not only ensured our reservation was seamlessly secured but also engaged us in delightful conversation, setting a warm and welcoming tone right from the start. The ambiance was cozy yet sophisticated, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
Our server, Eddy, deserves special mention for his outstanding service. He greeted us with a genuine smile and proceeded to guide us through the menu and specials with impressive knowledge and enthusiasm. His attentive demeanor made us feel valued throughout the evening, and he was always on hand when we needed him.
The wine selection at The George is nothing short of excellent. We enjoyed a superb red wine that perfectly complemented our meal. Speaking of which, the quality of the food exceeded our expectations in every way. The portions were generous, and considering the price, it was clear that we were getting great value for our money.
I opted for the chicken Milanese, and it was truly a culinary delight. The chicken was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—and the accompanying sides were equally flavorful. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to quality.
What truly set The George apart, however, was the personal touch from the owners themselves. We were pleasantly surprised when one of the owners took the time to visit our table, expressing genuine appreciation for our patronage. This gesture not only made us feel valued as customers but also highlighted the genuine passion and commitment that permeates every aspect of The George.
Overall, our experience at The George was nothing short of exceptional. From the warm reception at the door to the delectable food and heartfelt interactions with the staff and owners, every moment was a testament to the restaurant's dedication to providing a memorable dining experience. We left with full stomachs and even fuller hearts, already looking forward to our next visit. If you're looking for a restaurant in Providence that combines outstanding cuisine with impeccable service and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further than The George. Highly...
Read moreI visited The George on 2/17/24 with a group of friends. Our waiter was nice; the food was decent - compared to other restaurants in Providence it's nothing special; however, the overall service was absolutely horrendous and for that, I will never return nor will I recommend anyone to go here.
I'm not one to write a negative review but when my sister-in-law personally had a conversation with a manager that same night, was promised a refund, then called after the refund should've appeared on her card, spoke to another manager and yet here we are, almost a month later and still NEVER refunded. Empty promises.
There were 11 of us in our party, all of which had appetizers, entree's and alcoholic beverages ($$$$). When we were winding down, the waiter quickly asked about dessert or dessert drinks and seemed to be rushing us away from the table so they could set up for another party. He told us we could go downstairs to the speakeasy to finish our beverages - we get down there & they told us they were starting a comedy show within a half hour so the guy at the door asked us to exit prior to then and we agreed. We were all smooshed in 1 corner, as another (waiter?/manager?) told us that we really shouldn't be down there because of the show and offered to see if there was room upstairs in the bar - he came back down and advised us there was room up there. So we all venture back upstairs to the bar where there was NO room for us yet again. All hovering over a table for 2, which said reserved yet was empty at the time - a little more comfortable than downstairs yet a waitress comes over to us and asks us to move as 'that table is reserved'.
As soon as we paid and left our table, everything went south - we were moved around like cattle and nobody seemed to be appreciative for choosing their restaurant to dine at. Well, except the Manager my SIL spoke to - he said he would look at our bill and refund at least our 11 'dessert' drinks as we didn't get a chance to finish, and possibly more, for our aggravation. Even after a follow-up from her, the promised refund never was sent back to her card. Poor poor...
