Happy to see a new West African restaurant in Sacramento. I first had them during the soft opening and returned again last night. I stand by my rating but there should be a few things noted that might disappoint you if youâre unaware. First, food is made to order. If you donât like waiting to eat, probably not the space for you. I ordered the egusi and okra stew the first time and waited about 45 mins to get my meal. The same goes for my takeout order last night of Egusi (substituted because they ran out of okra stew) and pepper soup. This is not a deterrent for me because you know the food is fresh and cooked to order. The second thing to be aware of is the menu could be sold out of lots of items by the evening time. I arrived around 6pm and I wanted the okra stew and it was sold out as was a large portion of the menu. I highly recommend you check their website to see whatâs available before arriving. While both of these inconveniences could disappoint a customer, for me, the food and service make up for it (besides, if itâs sold out it means itâs probably a popular and tasty dish). The hospitality I received was pleasant and warm, and the food is delicious. Authentic flavors and a nice presentation of the dishes. And while the price may seem a little steep, I think their soups and stews could be served for two people or great for leftovers. Treat yourself to some of their pepper sauce to give things a little kick. Overall, this may be my new favorite dining establishment and Iâm so happy to see the African community thriving in Sacramento. Donât be deterred, come prepared and I promise youâll have a lovely...
Read moreMy wife and I had been craving egusi soup for a while, and after running out of local options, we came across Afroeatz. At first, I almost skipped it because it said âLiberian Restaurantâ and I was specifically looking for Nigerian egusi. But after checking out their website, we decided to give it a shot â and Iâm so glad we did.
As a Nigerian whoâs lived in the U.S. for over a decade, this was hands down the best African restaurant experience Iâve had here. The vibe is on point, and you can tell theyâve put real thought into making it a welcoming dine-in spot. I loved the self-order kiosk and the little things â like being offered cold water after eating.
Now the food? Absolutely DELICIOUS. The egusi was rich and flavorful, the wings and plantains were the best Iâve had anywhere, and the jollof rice with chicken and cabbage? Incredible. Everything was cooked with care and seasoned to perfection.
If youâre Nigerian and feeling skeptical, trust me â just go. You wonât be disappointed. And if youâre new to African food or trying egusi for the first time, this is the perfect place to start. Afroeatz is feeding Sacramento right â and theyâre...
Read moreI was soooooo excited to try this place. I saw a TikTok video of someone eating Egusi soup from here and then got dressed and went- all within 20 mins. 𤣠My server Nasco, gave me instructions on how to eat the Egusi Soup. (With Goat meat) He even brought me bowls of water to wash my hands in at the table. I have seen countless videos of people eating Egusi and my heart and belly is full. Knowing that this restaurant is in walking distance of me in Midtown, brings me so much joy! I will be back to try everything they have on the menu! The other servers and owners even checked in with me on if I loved it (which she said she could tell đ) so I hope they keep that level of service and concern as they get more and more busy- because they will. đđ˝I hope they have events and stuff here because I would love to come in here and dance to some good music in...
