Read moreI literally never write posts but I had a really bad experience here and want to say a few words about it. All I can say is there were flies EVERYWHERE inside. It was so disgusting and really distracting. The place is also covered in cobwebs and could really use some deep cleaning. Some giant clumps of dust were even floating around me while I was studying and almost landed in my drink. The atmosphere is very dark inside and the person who took my order was not friendly or nice she could hardly muster up a smile to me. The coffee I ordered was tasty but unfortunately I ordered it decaf and they did not make it decaf which I had to find out the hard way. I’m really sensitive to caffeine and felt very uncomfortable drinking my coffee and had to throw it away. The guy who made my drink did not take his time making my drink which is what I was worried about. I also realized they didn’t ask me if I wanted my drink hot or iced and just assumed I wanted it iced. Way too rushed of service. I felt like they were just trying to crank out my order even though I was the only person in line. The parking is also horrible. There’s only free 1 hour parking or you have to pay $8 for up to 4 hours of parking and it is very limited. I was so uncomfortable with the flies I left before my meter was up 2 hours early and went to a different coffee shop (where I had a much better experience!). The coffee is tasty but the place could really use some cleaning and I’d prefer the workers to not be so rushed while providing service. I used to be a barista at an independent coffee shop and would never have treated my customers the way I was...
Read moreOld Soul at Weatherstone has been a weekly staple for me since I moved into town a couple months ago. I'm fairly new to Sac and have been to a number of coffee shops in the area. This place stood out for several reasons. It actually feels neighborly and is nestled amongst old homes and buildings. Street parking is seldom an issue, but really this is the type of place you wouldn't mind walking to or would happen to find just by strolling around Midtown. The food is really good and left me pleasantly surprised. Theres a full kitchen in the back thats always churnin' out something tasty and way better than I would expect from a quaint little coffee shop. The building itself is like warehouse grungy with character. The atmosphere varies depending on the time of day and albeit busy at times, it's great for getting some work done on a laptop or reading a book at the bar. What really makes it though is the staff. Not once have I ever been received with disdain or treated poorly. I've gotten to know most of them including Kate, Joel, Matt, Ally, and Neil. They are such great communicators, and I've definitely found solace in a new city just by interacting with them regularly. They've left an indelible impact on my experience here and my perception of the folks in this town. The breakfast sandwich is a dream...
