I came here the other night with a few girlfriends, excited to try the new place! But it was disappointing. It reminded me of the place that was there before it, Downtown & Vine. Which also didn't live up to Sacramento's Farm to Fork food scene.
The outdoor seating was really nice, and the wine was great! They're currently not serving cocktails, just beer & wine. The menu is small since they have a "happy hour" only concept, which is a great idea! However when we received the food, it didn't live up to the hype. The mac & cheese was simply buttered noodles and didn't have the advertised cheesiness, and the fig/prosciutto flatbread lacked the balsamic glaze and had pieces were sparsely placed, so it tasted like a plain cheese bread.
When we told the server about the mac and "cheese", they had it remade and offered to take one round of wine off the bill. When we got the second dish, it was slightly cheese, but didn't even taste like mac and cheese. The server overall had a great attitude and was super nice, but when it came time for our bill, they didn't offer a physical receipt (even though we asked for an itemized one), and instead they verbalized that they offered "half off" the round of drinks they promised to take off the bill.
You'll definitely overpay here for a mediocre experience. It's unfortunate that it's basically a repeated experience from the former...

Went in for a party that a friend hosted there on Saturday and both bartenders were so incredibly rude and short with us. The act of actually getting a drink or making eye contact with them easily took 30 mins each time.. not kidding THIRTY Mins!! While I’m standing there waiting to be called on they stood there vaping and discussing how they were going to call the party early because “who even is the birthday girl anyway”!! I could not believe the unprofessionalism of these two working this party! It really put a bad taste in my mouth for this establishment! Twice I ordered the same round of drinks and both times they were made differently, ran out of tequila and starting getting creative except not in a good way. Bad Drinks. Bad Service....
Read moreI went to Smic’s this past weekend to celebrate my birthday. I sent an email over to see if they had seating for 8, and Paula the owner got back to me quickly and set us up with their community table. It was absolutely perfect, it was set away from other tables so it felt more private. Our server Anthony was phenomenal, super attentive and friendly. We got multiple different dishes to share and everything was delicious! We got all the sharer items- The curry chicken empanadas were my favorite! Also, their chambongs aren’t on the menu but they are amazing as so much fun! Thank you so much Paula, Anthony and the whole Smic’s team for making my 30th birthday dinner one...
