The Rooftop — Restaurant in Sacramento

My friend and I stopped here for drinks and dinner. Since the weather was so lovely, we asked the hostess downstairs if we could sit upstairs in the open air level. She was very nice and told us to go ahead. Upstairs however one waitress stopped us from sitting down and told us we had to wait for another waitress to seat us. Not a problem except she said it with a very unfriendly tone. My friend and I waited five minutes for the second waitress to seat us even though there was plenty of empty seating and numerous staff members who could have helped us. When we get to our seats and order, we noticed people who came after us being seated immediately by the same to waitresses and receiving their drinks/food before us. After the waitress dropped off our drinks, we never saw her again even though she knew we intended to order food. We watched her help to several other tables within a few feet of us multiple times as we waited for over 10 mintues with empty glasses. Eventually it became very clear to us that she was not coming back so we went to the bar, paid our check and left.

Not sure if the waitress didn't want to serve women of color... but there really was no other reason for the horribly poor service we encountered. Both my friend and I are naturally very smiley and polite. In addition, we went to two other restaurants after this and had excellent experiences. So to encounter that treatment was shocking and...

We sat outside on the front patio. I ordered the aged smoked cheddar burger, one friend ordered the bacon infused burger and another ordered the portabella mushroom burger. All three of us left there happy with our choices. Mine was especially delicious! Their sweet potatoe fries are not the best, so I won't be getting those again. The beer they make in house is surprisingly really good. I was going to give them 4 stars because of the fries but the good beer gained them that star back. I'd go here...

Came out here on a Saturday night on a whim during a date night and it ended up being a highlight of the night. It was a bit of a cooler night so it wasn’t super busy, but the heating was very nice and was still very comfortable. The bartenders were extremely nice and attentive; a special shout out to Rae for going above and beyond.
