NOT TOURIST FRIENDLY! This was mine and my husband’s first time visiting St. George and we came to have a good time with family for the Labor Day weekend. On Saturday night, we came across this bar and decided to give it a chance because we were looking to have a good time. After being here not even 20 mins, my husband was RUDELY approached by an employee and was treated with complete disrespect. My husband accidentally pulled out his vape from his pocket and was immediately approached for breaking the rules. He tried apologizing and telling the employee that it won’t happen again, but instead of being understanding, the employee insisted on arguing with my husband and threatened to throw us out. Let me add the employee was 2 inches away from my husband’s face which is NOT OKAY FOR PERSONAL BOUNDARIES. We understand we made a mistake but that is not how you talk to paying customers. The employee was tall, had a blonde ponytail with a black hat on. Not sure of his name but he was the one cleaning tables. If you want more customers to come into your bar and enjoy their time, maybe you shouldn’t speak to them as if they are nothing. Then to add insult to injury.. the employee then walks over to the bar and is pointing at my husband notifying the rest of the workers of what just happened. Extremely rude! What are we… children? Me and my family of 6 immediately left the bar and decided to end our night at another bar across the way which had excellent customer service. We will never return to this establishment and I will advise everyone else against it. This place is trash and so was this employee. We have never been disrespected so badly within minutes of being somewhere, so thanks, spiritual, for the terrible experience. Good luck with the rest of your customers. Hope you learn some manners.
P.s. To add on to another review of the drinks being messed with… this is 100% a possibility. When we first got there, there were 4 full drinks on our table as if someone was waiting for us to take them. Super weird...
Read moreIn the heart of downtown St George, in Ancestor Square, there is a "Speakeasy"....well not really but being at Spiritual feels like you've stepped into a plush and "religious" experience. Forgive all the tongue in cheek responses here... Spiritual is a very DIFFERENT kind of bar, the drinks are all mostly modeled after a time when having YOUR drink meant the bartender needed to know more than pouring a shot, and pressing a button on a soda gun.
Little details down to the size of ICE Cubes, the use of Mint, the presentation of the glasses are all there. The free nuts and popcorn and pretzels are a nuce touch as is the non alcoholic seltzer drink that was made at our table complements of the house! All these things make you feel like you're at an establishment for grown ups not a college meat market and it was GENUINELY REFRESHING.
The decor is hard to explain as its part of the experience from Gothic Gold and Bronze Guilded Mirrors to a wall of stone crosses, the over stuffed Gothic seating which is more couch and chairs than tables designed for maximum occupancy..... the feel is that I'm in a secret hideaway that only the "cool people" know about.
Upstairs depending on the night is an area for dancing and a DJ as well as a second bar, the feeling is run and relaxed and feels intimate.
I cannot recommend this bar enough because this place is a diamond in the rough among the Southern Utah Area and should be protected at all costs.
The Drink Menu is very detailed and there is a bar Bible page so even if you want to try something you've only heard about in the movies this place can deliver.

PROS: Really neat speakeasy aesthetic with awesome furniture and a decent selection of high-end whiskeys. My bartender was very nice and made me a custom drink when I requested it. He was attentive and respectful. The music was loud. While I don't prefer that personally, I recognize that this would probably be a great place for a group looking for a lively night out. Finally, this place is open super late which is awesome!
CONS: While the place looked like a speakeasy, the modern house/pop music totally changed the vibe and it felt a little at odds with the place's visuals. I would say that (at least on a Friday night) this place is more of a dive bar/club hybrid than a speakeasy. While I can't fault the bar for its clientele, there were a few overly drunk folks at the bar, which also detracted from the elegant speakeasy vibe that I think the place was going for. Also, I mentioned above that my bartender was great, but the other bartender on shift was less great. When I received my drink, he opined that it sounded disgusting, which was weird and a little upsetting. This was extra uncomfortable because he charged me $22 for it, which is on the high end for any cocktail. Finally, while the place has a great whiskey selection, its prices for the "allocated" pours are comically high (we're talking over $300 for some pours I've had for $50 elsewhere).
In the end, I WOULD recommend this place. It's a fun time, but perhaps not for someone looking for a quiet...
