a new guy at the register (nice guy) neglected to add protein to my bowl. Oops, that happens. It arrived and I sent it back. Everyone else finishes their food (10-15mins) and finally someone comes to inform me they didn't charge me for the protein, so pay up. Had they said that when I sent it back, sure no problem, but now I have to eat when everyone else is finished, so I said no. No manager attempted to address the issue. I requested a refund. 10mins and nothing. I finally asked, and was told I was refunded with no proof. I demanded a receipt, and NO REFUND. THEY LIED TO ME. When a manager finally got to a register to refund me, I told him, "I'm a local doctor and at least 50 patients are gonna ask me how my weekend was. Do you really want me to tell them about this?" The manager said "no, I do not", so I said "pack it to go and I will be happy." After a few minutes, I was refunded and told that's it. They threw my food in the trash and I left unfed and flabbergasted. Shame, the chai was decent. I do hope this review helps someone make a different choice. Edit: I was reminded the difference on the menu for a veg vs chicken bowl was less than what they tried to charge me after by ~$3 more... for less than $4, they get this review and lose...

I visited the new Southern Grounds on Central in St Pete on their second day! It’s a spacious stylish spot which is much more than a coffee shop. They have a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu as well as prosecco on tap!

Here are some notable points that stood out to me… The space is comfortable, spacious and open but not too loud. The left wall as you enter is adorned with amazing colorful works by local artist, Matt Kress. The menu is healthy, creative and varied! For example, local grass fed beef is used. No seed oils are used. Instead, just olive oil and tallow! They feature numerous in house made syrup flavors for your favorite flavored latte! It’s the most I’ve ever seen!

The staff are engaging and ready to serve and answer questions. I met Jordan, one of the owners, Mattea who provided great service and Renee who cranked out some beautiful latte art! Thank you all three of you!

This great concept started in Jacksonville and now has opened this new location in St Pete!

My espresso, with coffee beans from Intelligentsia, was smooth and had a nice crema. Well done and just what I wanted.

Wow!! I had a wonderful experience going to Southern Grounds, it was my first time and from the moment I walked in, everyone was so friendly, and I love the warm welcome… The aesthetics and motif of this coffee shop is unmatched, it’s so spacious and I love all of the decor and it’s an eclectic, artsy theme and it feels cozy with inviting vibes where you can sit and work on your computer or you can just enjoy a delicious beverage and hang out with a friend and take in the heart of the downtown district, I ordered a brown sugar iced Matcha and it was absolutely phenomenal, I love ceremonial grade Matcha, and it wasn’t overly sweet, it was a hybrid of an Organic taste with the sweetness and perfect texture of the brown sugar, and oat milk, it is the best I have ever had in St. Petersburg! I can’t wait to come back and try the coffee, pastries, and so much more, I highly recommend everyone to visit and it will be an unforgettable experience and you will love...
