There are better burgers nearby (Rich's, for one) but not for the price and not as fast. The fries are home style and soft with a crispy crust, as fries should be. As for gyros, better can be had nearby (Padeli's) but again...slightly more expensive. For what it is, I would give Apollo 5 stars, except...
Service, as is the case at a lot of Utah restaurants, is lacking. I ordered a cheeseburger. My coworkers ordered a jr. cheeseburger and a bacon cheeseburger, respectively, after I ordered. Yet I had to wait an extra 5 minutes to get my food after they'd already started eating. This is not the first place downtown to do this very thing to me, so I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong.
Nevertheless, when I worked at Bennigan's several decades ago, we had very rigid standards we were expected to follow and we knew it. First contact was to be made within 30 seconds. Drink orders were to be taken within 2 minutes. Etc. These service standards seem to be lacking at most Utah restaurants and it can lead to a jarring experience. Apollo is no exception, it seems.
One other thing...they were advertising "Oktoberfest" brats for sale. They were priced at $6 each, which is a bit steep for a brat...but I could have dealt with that if when I asked if it could be ordered as part of a combo, I was told that I couldn't. Come on, Apollo...loosen up your arbitrary rules a little! Anything should be available in a combo meal. I...
Read moreI won't be coming back to this restaurant, until you replace the management, and the staff. This summer it was good, now it's not. I'm sitting here smelling perfume that one of your workers is wearing that I'm having an allergic reaction to as are, and I can barely breathe. The person that works at night cannot speak English, so has asked me, by turning around the terminal to make my own order. The old staff know exactly what I wanted when I walked in. I came twice a week. As an update, on the 10th of April 2024 I come in to charge my phone and the same manager doesn't even know how to turn on the power to the outlets at the bar. The power also Powers the televisions containing their ads. The televisions are not on either. This was the absolute last straw for me. I'm going to try and get ahold of corporate to see if they can replace whoever's working with some good help. On my Chicken souvlaki platter my salad was wilted and I asked for it to stay, and they didn't know what I meant. Biggest thing for me right now, is the fact that somebody walked into your restaurant as a manager, that is wearing that much perfume. I would have fired him on the spot for wearing that much, and I managed Arctic circle in Rexburg idaho, and mountain high pizza pie in Jackson...
Read moreAlthough I think the food is pretty good I had an experience there a couple weeks ago that has kind of ruined it for me so will no longer patronize any Apollo Burgers. So that is the reason I have given them only 1 star. At about 9:00-9:30 today (May 24th, 2022) I went into the establishment to place a "to go" order. I stood in line and waited my turn to order. When it was my turn at the counter, I moved up to it and the person working the orders (Older women with blonde (ish) hair informed me that Apollo has changed the rules and doesn't allow animals inside any longer. I can understand why you are doing this but the order taker waited until I got up to the ordering counter and told me that they do not allow any animals in the establishment any longer and she was not very nice about it. Nevermind the fact that my dog is a certified Emotional Support Animal and I'm in a power chair because of an amputation so it's kind of obvious that I am handicapped. As she was telling me this I could not get a word in to tell her that my dog is a certified support animal, so I just left to avoid...
