White horse tavern We found parking right outside on a Thursday evening around 5PM. We were seated in the communal tables in the middle of restaurant. The chairs don’t have backs and you may get hit a few times by people walking by so be prepared for it. That’s what we get for not having reservations but 100% still glad we went.
First off, this place has a pretty extensive drink menu. Good luck figuring out what you want or you can just play roulette for a hefty price. I did that for one of the drinks but don’t think it was worth the few extra dollars vs getting a pre made cocktail from the list. I can’t even tell you what else we ended up drinking but it was several different cocktails and all were really tasty. They didn’t taste very alcoholic but I’ve noticed most cocktails we have had in Utah have hit that way so no low scores for that.
Below is list of things we ordered. Fried olives- I expected more from these. Just tasted like chorizo inside of an olive and I guess I thought there would be more cream cheese, larger olives or more almonds but it was a super cheap bar snack so not that mad about it.
Eggs n chips- what in the world was that? I’ve never had anything like it and wished the egg was more pronounced to help the pretty strong malt vinegar taste on the chips. The chips where it had the egg on it, they were a perfect combo of vinegar and egg but if it was missing the egg, it was abbot overpowering on the vinegar. Again only $5 so worth getting because it’s super unique.
Brussels sprouts- I need this recipe. The Brussels were HUGE so it was a good serving of vegetables and the Brussels were soft yet crispy and the nuts were a great addition. The bacon bits were huge and the sauces mixed together was a good topping as well. I’d highly recommend ordering these for sure and if you get recipe, send it my way. PLEASE.
Wagyu burger- it was a huge cut of meat. We were not expecting it to be so big. It was super juicy and the egg was a good addition as well. The plate of fries was insane though. I don’t think we need that many fries on side though.
Wagyu steak- the Gorgonzola butter was yummy. I love when places have the option to add this on our steaks. I wish there had been more of it but that’s alright. I did expect more broccolini especially after seeing how many fries my boyfriend got but I did order a steak. Just be prepared for less of a side and make sure you get those Brussels :) the steak was cooked to perfection snd the sauce was especially flavorful. The meat had clearly been marinated because it was awesome. It tasted just as good leftover next day as well.
Truffle grilled cheese- talk about truffle. This baby was super thick, very cheesy and had tons of truffle flavor. If you like truffle, this is a must get! It was huge too. Again, the amount of chips they got was HUGE. The chips were sooooo good though. Those surprisingly were still delicious next day too. Just as crispy!!!
Beef tartare- meh. I’ve had way way better numerous times before so this wasn’t that great. You could go without ordering it unless you HAVE TO HAVE tartare. It was a little too loose or creamy for me for what I like with my tartare.
Charcuterie- the andouille had some really good Smoky heat. The almonds were BBQ flavor and I’d eat a whole bag of them if I could. The bacon was so thick and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend getting this!
All in all we had a good time. There’s still plenty of menu items we didn’t get to try so we’d def be back especially if we are in that area of...
Read moreI used to really love this place. I've spent my fair share of time and money here. On Saturday August 5th I surprised my father with tickets to the Joe Bonamassa concert which was happening right down the road from White Horse. He was so excited and I will never forget the smile he had on his face all night. We walked in to White Horse about 630 pm and asked if we could sit at the bar. We just wanted some drinks and snacks until we had to be at the show at 8 pm. The hostess looked both myself and my father up and down (yeah we were wearing matching Joe Bonamassa t-shirts) and says very condescendingly and kind of giggling while saying it, "yeahhhhh seee I don't think we have any tables available for you guys for at least an hour." I already wanted to tell her never mind by the way she had just talked to me but I said back to her, "that's okay, like I said we want to sit at the bar. It looks like there are some open seats at the bar where we want to sit anyways." She looks back at the bar and sees there are open seats and looks back at us and says, "yeahhh soooo I just don't think there is enough room for you guys at the bar unfortunately." Then basically shoed us away. I was about to ask for a manager when my dad looked at me and said screw this place and we walked out. You guys were not super busy and had nobody waiting outside of the restaurant either. I have never felt so judged in my entire life. Like my father and I weren't good enough to be in your bar. I will never return here and I will be telling everyone I know about this experience and also posting this review everywhere. It's all good though, dad and I went to a different bar where we sat and had drinks and food and spent a few hundred dollars elsewhere. Your bartender missed out on a $200 tip that night. I've attached a pic of my father and I to show how absolutely unacceptable and disgusting we look to not be able to sit at the bar at White Horse. You guys might want to reassess your barely 21 and old enough to even be there, childish hostess....
Read moreThis place was fantastic. Atmosphere, staff, drinks, food - White Horse has it all for a reasonable price. If you’re looking to treat yourself to a little sampling of some of the best culinary offerings you can enjoy, I highly recommend White Horse.
We visited on the recommendation of a friend. There were 5 of us in our party and we had a genuinely memorable dinner.
The drink menu is fantastic; especially the whisky offerings, but there is so much to choose from, that might be the greatest challenge except for the knowledgeable staff.
There are so many wonderful whiskeys in the world, I like to sample something a little different each time I visit a place with a selection like White Horse. My dilemma: too many to choose from.
I was feeling Irish whiskey of some variety and “O,” our server, helped me pick out the option to go with my meal. Everyone in our party (who did drink) raved about their beverages. From specialty cocktails like the Dripping Glitter to classics like a “Perfect Manhattan” these are why you enjoy a cocktail.
For the beer drinker as well, you won’t be stuck in IPA hell as with so many other establishments. They have a great selection of beers for every taste and season.
The food menu is equally impressive. We started with the Egg n’ Chips…* truly unique and delicious. You’ll want to video the table-side process.
Our table sampled from across the menu: from beef to fish and sandwiches; all equally delicious and some unique.
Finally, we finished with the Chocolate Molten Cake - it’s worth the :20 minute wait. I paired it with a digestif, the New World Wasatch Cherry Blossom liquor… mwah!
Everything about this place is enjoyable and for what you’re getting, the price is quite reasonable. White Horse Spirits and Kitchen is a gem. Worth the...
