I was so excited to hear that for their 4 year anniversary Copper Common was reprising some of the amazing items from Plum Alley, an absolute favorite from back in the day. Upon arriving the bar was light with patrons so I thought I'd be delighted to have fast service after watching the Jazz win at home.
It was a Monday so no table service wasn't that big of a deal and after confirming the Ramen and Steam buns were indeed still being served, my mouth watered. It took over 30 minutes to receive our order and that's where the disappointment began. The buns were dry as though under a heating lamp for too long, the famous ramen was nothing like I remembered with an über heavy-handed saltiness. On top of that the margherita pizza was undercooked with doughy parts.
I completely understand off nights and misses as being an avid SLC foodie so I had voiced my disappointment to a waiter passing by to which he did not give any regard. Ross simply obliged in giving me a bill and said nothing in the realm of service recovery. As my boyfriend and I exited Ross came running out of the bar to berate us as we were walking away with one derogatory comment after another. Never have I received such treatment from a local establishment that I've frequented for years - hot headed bartenders without any assemblage of tact nor respect is not the SLC standard I know.
After working in hospitality, fine dining and customer service I'm severely shocked by...

If you like craft cocktails, this is the place for you. They have a super interesting list of their own, very creative, cocktails. One example: the buttered bee's knees. It is made with the locally made Beehive barrel-aged gin, butter (yes), honey, and lemon. This version is better than any classic bee's knees cocktail I have ever had. The others on the list are equally creative and excellent! And of course, they do classic cocktails as well.
We shared two starters: the smashed potatoes with fry dip and the smoked trout dip topped with pastrami flavor spices. The dip itself was very good, but to my taste the topping of spices overwhelmed the fish. The smashed potatoes were super- crispy, very hot, and nice. The dipping sauce was okay but not my favorite taste profile.
I had the lamb merguez meatballs served with labneh and flatbread. They had a lovely taste, but were a bit dense and heavy. The salmon, however, was exquisite. Perfectly cooked, and the couscous and ramp habanero cream were great with it. The bucatini was also very good.
We had the rhubarb cobbler, topped with their house made vanilla soft serve, which was delicious. The blondie sundae also was declared yummy.
All in all, we had a lovely meal and great service in a casual relaxed restaurant. I recommend this place. Its location is great, being so close to the...
Read moreTo preface this, I work in the industry. I came to copper common tonight for the first time to celebrate a special night with my partner and our friend. Our server told us of a wine special that sounded intriguing, and I ended up ordering the bottle, which cost $100. First, our bottle did not come to our table for almost half an hour. When she corked our bottle, our cork was destroyed completely, and the wine was served to us in whiskey glasses. I feel that a bottle at such a price should be served with actual wine glasses. The server proceeded to spill the bottle not once, but twice, onto our table. She then proceeded to make back handed comments towards us which made us very uncomfortable. Something must be done about this kind of service. The food was good, there are a few things that could be fixed on the menu, the pork dish is served with foccia, and the dish also had bread crumbs on it which made no sense. All and all, an okay experience but severely let down by our server who was blonde with facial piercings. hopefully it will be improved the...
