Meet up with my daughter to eat. Happened to be the night of a jazz game which we didn’t know or care care about since it had nothing to do with why we were customers there. Went there because we love the sweet potato fries. Apparently this location doesn’t have sweet potato fries Not only that but we visited for a bit in one vehicle upon leaving then went to my daughter’s vehicle, only to find it had been towed. Asked gentle man in parking lot. He told us crown burger was suppose to have given us a parking pass to put in cars…which we never got and though it wasn’t quite 9pm we tried to talk to someone in the store about this.. they said closed and that they didn’t speak English. Called another day to see if crown burger would help us appeal as we could prove we were customers there. First lied, telling me I was talking to a manager. Then when finally given to the actual manager he refused to listen to us. Refused to think it was possible we didn’t get something to put in our car. Just yelled the same thing at us over and over again that they didn’t have anything to do with towing even though we were parked in their parking lot. That there were signs… which when it is dark and lots of traffic we could not see. No sign where we were parked by building that we saw. So beware … our burger and non sweet potato fry ended up costing over $400. With no willingness to help their own...
Read moreWOW! What a burger! We pulled up to an older looking building that seemed right out of the sixties. We both agreed that this was probably a good sign as it meant this place stood the test of time! We pulled up to a long line that moved fairly quickly, and the lady on the intercom made sure to get our order just right as to eliminate mistakes. Right into the first bite I could tell they were charbroiled and were fantastic! The caramel milk shake was one of the best milk shakes I have ever had! I could not stop sipping on it and as soon as it was gone I wanted another! We only ordered the double burger with cheese and quickly realized that we forgot about the pastrami being one of their highlighted additions to your normal burger. Next time we will definitely give the pastrami a try. Fry sauce is a big deal in Utah and crown burgers was no slouch in this category either! They have a pretty expansive menu and I cant wait to go back to try other items on the menu such as their Gyros and their Souvlaki (chicken). Highly recommend this spot for a solid burger and shake shop!
Second review. Tried the pastrami and the fish sandwich. Pastrami is on point and just darn good. The fish sandwich wad just meh. Smelled very fishy and not much flavor. Will pass on that for sure next time. Will try the...
Read moreIf you have not been here, think: It's the late 1970s, Burger King is quickly becoming a top player in fast food. Some local folks set up Crown Burger in that image. Drive Through. Counter service. A bit bigger than you might expect a Burger King to be.
The place has not changed much since this imagined start, at least visually (logos, building style, etc.)
I got a Crown Burger, it comes with hot pastrami. It was a fine burger, but the pastrami was not that great. It looked boiled, it was soggy and limp, and didn't really taste that good (I like pastrami a lot, maybe I am picky.) The sandwich fell apart, the could have done with half the pastrami and still been fine.
Fries were good, Service was great, fast, Fry sauce was... fine for 1979 but not up to today's standards. With each region's local burger chain working on going national, (Five Guys, Shake Shack, In and Out) these guys do look a little different but I don't think they compete, not really. Great ideas, not great execution.
This seems to be a beloved local burger chain and I understand why but I think they might be running on nostalgia at this point as their product was fine but nothing special and not particularly well made by today's standards. But it was...
