I have eaten there 4 times, abd later today will probably maje 5, so I can honestly say Tuccis has some of the best Italian food. At least one person in my family has ranked it above Olive Garden. The food is great, although the serving sizes are so generous that is so very easy to get full just from having dinner there. Luckily they offer take out boxes. The ambience is definately along the feeling of classy dining, although you certainly do not need to dress in your Sunday best to eat there. The lunch and dinner options are many, but while they do have some dessert options, they are limited. However last I remember having dessert there, Mom and Dad and I split 3 desserts between 3 people and dessert was pretty good. It is located by (but not exactly in) Trolley Square. I have not been to the Old Spaghetti Factory to compare the 2 places, but I have heard Tuccis is better. The only less glamorous thing about Tuccis as far as its location is that it is located in a complex with other unrelated businesses and such. Luckily, on the flip side of the coin, this means that if you are waiting just outside of the restaurant you are not too cold during the winter and not too hot during the summer, and naturally shielded from the rain. Also once you are inside really setting-sensitive people might forgive walking past less classy places in order to get there because it is nicely decorated, you can see out the windows to Trolley Square and Salt Lake City, abd more. I would recommend it for those who want to eat really good Italian food. If you are more like me and a classical ambience is a little old fashioned and depressing maybe you will still like it but maybe you will not. That is why I withheld a 5, and I know that that is a really dumb reason. As a side note, squid is an option there and it is SOOO good. (It was only after a member of family told me what it was that I had second thoughts about how it already tasted. I had never had squid before, though, and it was SOOO delicious that I could have been fooled.) A restaurant that knows how to serve squid can probably make...
Read moreI truly had hoped that I could give more than two stars. One of these stars is for the ambiance and decor of Tucciâs, this place would be such a quaint place to throw an engagement party or even a small COVID wedding. The other star is for the ease of making a reservation online and the ease of free parking.
The service was just okay. You could tell that the poor girl was doing her best, but coming from a former server...youâd think that the staff would be more welcoming and work more as a team. There was one that was particularly rude in a couple of instances and I was grateful that I didnât have her as a waitress. Even small manners go a long way. There was quite a bit of a wait whilst we were dining yet a number of many tables open which seemed odd so that may be because waitstaff isnât managed properly.
To the issue of the actual food...the food that we were served from the appetizers to the entrees were mediocre at best. The food was absolutely overpriced and overcooked. It was worse than Olive Garden on a bad day. Our appetizers were dripping in grease and oil, my husbands steak although was requested at a medium rare was like chewing on leather, my daughters broccoli was overcooked and tasted like my husbands steak, my dinner was not any better but it did make me sick very shortly after. I had to have my illness calm down enough to be able to write this review. I made it one block down the road before I had to pull over and throw up. My husband and my 3 year old are also incredibly ill from our dinner tonight. My daughter and I are unable to sleep due to having to rush to the restroom constantly and my husband is in the same situation but at work. Its been at least 5 hours since we left the restaurant and I see our illness lasting well...
Read moreMy boyfriend, son and I went yesterday to eat. We called ahead, they said they'd get us right in........ Well we sat there for over 3 HOURS. Over 2 hours to get our food, seemingly discriminated against as they were very attentive to everyone else around us, people who were there after us got their food first. We kept getting apologies and by the time we got our food we didn't care to even eat, yet we were STILL charged full price and then some. Mind you my son is special needs and was very frustrated, had told our server he would like more bread, that never came. When we asked how much longer for our food we were told "it's just about done, sorry for the wait" that's all we got..... We were offered free dessert yet our server was non existent 98% of the time we were there. When my boyfriend went to the front they told him it was going to be another FIFTEEN MINUTES just to get change for a $100..... Um no thanks! As much as we did get of our meals, the food was great. The service?! AWFUL. Because we don't "fit in/fit your mold"? so rude. I'm not sorry we have tattoos, that I have face tattoos, that my boyfriend was the only colored patron. I'm not sorry we were in our cowboy boots and ball caps. If you want discrimination and to wait for over 3 hours to eat?! This is the place for you! If you have tattoos, don't fit their idea of what they want in their restaurant, please enjoy the hours and hours of wait to get your meal and to be ignored and treated as though you don't exist, such an amazing experience and influence for an already discriminated against family and special needs child....
