I was overcharged & service meh. To be clear, the taste of the food is 5 star.Server was- nice but not forthcoming with details and gave wrong info. See the pics, esp the menu and my receipt. I ordered the prefixe, $67. I asked if I could sub out the sides & dessert. She said yes but didn’t mention there’d be charges for each. I get it; it’s fine dining, they don’t discuss $ a lot. However, MY SOUP never arrived! Got my appetizer, then dinner. I was so excited for the steak, I got right to it and forgot about the soup. I remembered halfway thru dinner but didn’t want soup then. Server didn’t check back for a while so I couldn’t even tell her. Lastly, I subbed out the prefixe cheesecake for banana pudding, which the server said they had. I’m like wow! Restaurants never have banana pudding as a dessert, give me that! Turns out: It’s banana crème pie! Fortunately it’s delicious, but it’s not the banana pudding I thought I was ordering. I got the soup and banana pie boxed up to go along with the rest of my dinner to enjoy at the hotel.
No soup arrived. No banana pudding existed. You’d think I’d get something taken OFF the bill! Nope I what I got instead was an EXTRA charge stating I’d subbed out the soup BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY A PREFIXE ITEM! Plus got extra charges for my 2 sides — 1 side a sub price and the other side I was charged full price! — AND up-charged for subbing my WRONG dessert I was served…which I discovered back at the hotel bc they’d brought that out boxed up. When I asked why my bill was so high when the prefixe was $67, server said, “Oh bc you subbed.” At that point I hadn’t even noticed the erroneous soup sub.

The restaurant boasts an elegant ambiance and a team of servers that provide exemplary service. During my visit to celebrate my wife's birthday, Jarvis, Austin, and Michael were our servers, and they worked seamlessly as a team to make our dining experience unforgettable. They were attentive to our needs, prompt in serving our meals, and made my wife feel special on her special day.
The star of the show was, of course, the food, and the steaks were fantastic. The quality of the meat was evident in every bite, and they were cooked to perfection, exactly as we had ordered. The sides and desserts were equally delicious, and the presentation was stunning. The location of the restaurant, right on the Riverwalk, added to the charm of the dining experience.
Additionally, the restaurant's manager, David, made a point to stop by our table to ensure everything was perfect. His attentiveness and dedication to ensuring his guests are satisfied are commendable.
In summary, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on the Riverwalk in San Antonio is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates an exceptional dining experience. Read moreOur experience at this restaurant started pretty well, friendly hostess and waiter assistant, offered bread and water right away. Atmosphere is nice, quiet and romantic. Chris was our waiter, he could repeat the entire menu on top of his head, everything sounded very delicious. We asked ahead whether if the mushroom stuffed with crabmeat contains onions, per Chris, he went to the kitchen and was told no, so we ordered it, thinking it only has mushrooms and crabmeat. But when the dish was served, unfortunately it was mixtures of onion, celery and green onions all over. But none of those ingredients were listed on the menu. Miss communication from whomever, you definitely dropped the ball here. Otherwise the main entrees were delicious, filets and cowboy ribeye were cooked as expected. Garlic mash and sautéed mushrooms were delicious. The reasons I gave 3 stars are because 1) our appetizer came wayyyy after the entree, at almost done eating. Someone forgot? 2) mushroom crabmeat was not at all as expected, nothing was explained on menu nor by staff, sigh. 3) after all of our orders were taken, Chris came back later to letting us know that they’re out of brussels sprouts. I personally expecting high quality food and well trained staffs at Ruth Chris, not just some mediocre...
