Popi's is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and should be on everyone's "go" list. My friends and I went for a quick happy hour and ended up with a few bottles of wine and lots of fresh snacks.
The staff is just top rate. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and just a great group of people putting something enticing into our Marina lives. Both Mya and Melissa were, "Can't believe you aren't already in my friend circle" kinda women. Truly enjoyed meeting them.
The wine list is short but on point (who needs excess when you know your stuff?) We had the Albariño and Etna Bianco and our non-white wine drinkers loved them as did our white wine-centric. The oysters were super fresh and the toppings were perfect pairings. We kept it simple with a Prawn Cocktail and it didn't disappoint either. Nice plump prawns. We got a loaf of bread to accent the bites and it might have been the freshest bread served on the street.
Lovely atmosphere. Lovely staff. Lovely menu. Definitely determined to become a...
Read moreWish I could leave a better review, because the food was great but the price point/ value ridiculous. A whole crab for over $75? I ordered a salad, a crab, and a glass of wine…. With tip we’re talking over $150.
As good as the meal was, the prices are so over the top that the meal can barely be enjoyed. One and done here. Makes me miss the days when this was a donut shop with delightful elderly Asian woman named Mina at the counter who would always hook you up with more than you paid her…. Kinda hilarious that what’s in the space now is the polar opposite in terms of value.
Also kinda funny they left the floor plan of the failed restaurant (glazed teriyaki) that replaced ‘all star star donuts’ identically to when they took over. Wonder how long this place will last when the worlds most anticipated recession shows up…. Or will there be enough liquidity left in the market/marina that this spots margin’s...
Read moreWe popped in for a late lunch on Saturday, we were seated quickly without a reservation and there was 6 of us. We were really looking forward to the fish and chips. My mom got the first order and hers looked great, the other 2 orders were not so great, we were given the tail end of the fish with hardly any white fish just skin and batter and more fries that anything else. The tartare sauce had a rancid taste to it ,so disappointing. I would usually complain but we had the kids and didn't feel like causing a stir on that day. The owner seemed friendly and walked around to check in on the other 2 tables , he seemed chatty and brought the table next to us some hot sauce but never checked on our table, being the biggest inside the restaurant, seemed odd to me ! I thought it was incredibly overpriced for what it was. Maybe we will try the...
