We went looking for some brunch on January 1st, 2024. The place we originally had decided to go to was extremely busy-2 hour wait time. We decided to come here instead. We walked in and although they were somewhat busy it didn’t seem it would be too bad of a wait time. But we were wrong. It took a while for us to get the menu. After that a lady came in by herself and sat at the bar. Then a couple came in and sat and also got service before we did. Then the server finally took our order for the drinks only even tho we told her we were ready to order our food as well. She seemed to not want to be there working. Maybe because it was the new year or because it was just her and someone else for a busy place. A family that was there before us walked out after waiting over 40 minutes for their food. We on the other hand hadn’t even had the chance to order. After almost leaving ourselves (the kids were hungry and didn’t want to go looking elsewhere) our order was finally taken. And then our food only took like 20 minutes after ordering. Server was apologetic at the end and the food was really good. I wish the service had been great from the very beginning. Regardless I might consider giving them another try.

We stayed nearby At Wind Chimes Boutique, this restaurant was an 8 minute walk from our hotel. On our way we came across small shops, pharmacies and bars. The staff was friendly and attentive. Music was a good mix of English and Spanish. Cute patio with a swing, we sat outside after eating and interacted with locals and enjoyed the spontaneous rain showers of PR. The drinks were great, the food was a lot and delicious ! The prices were affordable! Ana’s cafe was one of our favorite places to eat at. I got the chuleta ahumada plate and it came with rice, beans, salad and the chuleta for $13! It’s family friendly. There’s a bar, and I believe at night it shifts to an adult ambience as they also serve hookah.

On vacation and wanted to try some authentic puerto rican food And saw this place had good reviews, s I made the drive to Check It Out.

When we arrived, there was a VERY energetic and friendly waitress covering the the outside tables, but the music was some kind of Spanish rap, so asked if we could sit inside where soft bachata was playing, and she said sure, and she would still be our waitress inside OR she could change the music outside if we would like.

Rather than inconvenience, anyone else, we chose inside and specifically sai, "As long as SHE was going to be our waitress still." (since she was so friendly and willing to accommodat, didn't want her to miss out on tips because of the loud music..that's up to management...)

But once we got inside, a different waitress immediately came over to take our order.

We explained that we were told the girl from outside would be our server, But she said that it was her section so had to order from HER.

We put in our order, and then our waitress from outside came over. And we had to tell her that we had already ordered.

BUT I regretted that decision later because the second girl never came after giving us our drinks... No really she literally NEVER came back to our table until the original waitress asked if we liked our food...45mins later because she thought we were finished but there were no plates because we had yet to be served. 😡

The original girl from outside told her, so she FINALLY goes to check on our meal. It comes out ICE COLD...and two sides are missing..

Waitress from outside apologized fro delay and asked if I'd like a new dish but it's already an hour late at that point so asked if she could find out what happened to the side orders.

She comes right back IMMEDIATELY with two hot sides.😊and asked if there's anything else so we thank HER, and ask for the check and try to eat what we can get down (after mixing the cold meet with the hot sides) and -I kid, you not- that second girl sat the table next to us and washed us eat as if she expects us to dine and dash or something.

When we get our bill, we see only the meal, but not the 2 side dishes so initially thought, since our food was cold AND took so long,...they must be waiting the charge. Nice, and good business...

But we were wrong.

She took the receipt because it showed she never put the order for our 2 sides in and had the audacity to add them to the receipt and give it back to us with the extra charge added

the amount of the rice and beans to the bill and set. Their while we finished up waiting for her payment.

What. In. The actual HELL lady.🤬

In the end, we ended up paying for the full price of our 45min waiting time to arrive cold food.

The lemon chicken was tasty. The maduros too and hot the rice and beans were good but the bisteak that was cold was tough so not sure because it was cut so thin or because it sat too long but YUCK.

And if you think we left without giving a tip, you thought wrong. We did give a tip... a VERY nice one, too...

TO THE GIRL FROM OUTSIDE, 😆

And rght in the face of the girl who took out order, because NO. No ma'am. You do not treat customers like that and expect them to give you a tip. Because you hang over their shoulder like you are entitled to it.

Never again would I go there NOR recommend them even for the dishes that WERE good, and the will SOLELY be...

Ana's Cafe is an excellent choice for ALL who come to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, My wife and I came to Puerto Rico and tried many restaurants in many cities , but none came close to Ana's Cafe. The food is always consistently delicious 😋, the ladies who work there are phenomenal, sweet and attentive . Visitors just make sure to have a Visa or Master card as they do not accept American Express. But most definitely a Must Try restaurant, or be like my wife and I who have gone there now over 8 times in a 1 week trip . We enjoyed the best Mofongo topped with grilled chicken in the most savory Garlic sauce along with white rice , and sauce beans , with a side of fried green plantains and also a side of fried yellow plantains . OMGGGG and please also try there Avocado salad !!!! Yes all of that was ONE meal for us 😋 . Well , I hope yall enjoy And chicas de Ana's Cafe , muchas gracias por su buen servico, cuando mi esposa y yo regresemos,, nos veremos...
