Basically if you read this, go to the establishment anyways, have an issue, and are faced with the delema of "should I say something?!?".... then you've done this to yourself. This place doesn't care about it's patrons. If you have a great experience then GREAT! But don't expect any sympathy or recovery from them if and when THEY drop the ball... onward...
There was a screw sticking straight out of the chair my mother went to sit in. Luckily it didn't cut her but it tore her new pants. In further inspection other chairs had the same screw sticking out of the "bum spot" of the chair. We asked to speak to the manager and he was awefully rude. He said the chair manufacturer was at fault not himself or the company he represents. When we told him we were not happy with that response he yelled at us claiming we were trying to blackmail him and this and that as he stormed into the kitchen cussing. He did absolutely nothing to compensate for the pants and did not even apologize. I'm glad my mom didn't get cut on the screw but it was obviously sharp enough to cut her. Just a warning if you go there. Check your seat before you sit down so you do not hurt yourself. In my case, I will not be back. There are plenty of great hospitable places to go in this area and all we got out of our experience here was a ruined pair of pants and an attitude from the manager rob. Rob, learn to recover from moments like this. You were in the wrong. You should have shown some sympathy and tried to make a bad situation into a good one. Things happen. But being a jerk helps nothing except your...
Read moreWe went to this place pretty regularly last football season; they have excellent soft pretzels with jalepeno beer cheese dip and good service industry drink specials, and Patrick the bartender has always given us good service. Sadly, Patrick is only one person, and cannot run the entire restaurant. Table service is usually lackluster. Today, we sat at a table and received some of the worst service in Savannah. First of all, if you are working in food service, be it front or back of the house, and you have long hair, then TIE IT BACK--especially if your hair is below your shoulders. Our server apparently didn't think that rule applied to him, as did any other basics of service industry. There were 3 of us at the table, and we were sharing buckets of beer. We would wait 10 minutes between being finished with our bucket (and visibly so, since the butt ends of the bottles were sticking out). Worse still, the server would take the spent bucket without asking us if we wanted another one. He had 5 other tables in his section, and they were all seated at separate times, so he wasn't being rushed by other customers. He simply couldn't be bothered to pay attention to us, except when the check came. Then, he stood over us waiting for us to put out our cards and cash, popping his bar towel! I don't just blame him though, I blame management, because clearly they are not setting any kind of standards for their employees. Regardless, we decided that today was our last visit. No soft pretzel is worth that...
Read moreI ate at Dubs today with friends from out of town. I am a native to Savannah so I eat at all these local joints and am usually satisfied, but not today. Upon entering the building there were two servers sitting on the floor writing on a chalk board. They had a conversation where one sighed loudly and said, I guess it's my turn, I'll be right back. She then took us to a table where she tried to take out drink order without having given us menus. Shy, our server, took our drink orders in one of only a few interactions we would have. I ordered the shrimp tacos, one of my favorite foods. The food came out after a bit and brought it to us. She never returned to ask if we needed more drinks (I did actually want more) or to ask how the food was (horrible). She was across the dining room writing on the chalk board the entire time. Finally we called out to her and asked for the check. When she brought it to us I told her that the shrimp tacos were awful and I hadn't been able to eat much of them because it smelled and tasted like she shrimp was bad and was horribly fishy. She proceeded to tell me that that was because I got a flour tortilla instead of corn and that made it not an authentic taco. She went back to the kitchen and came back out telling me she told the chef and he said it tasted foul because it is so fresh the shrimp still taste like the fish in the ocean. We paid and left. Due to bad food and poor service I will not be back and will not be recommending Dubs anymore to tourists...
